Chris Hemsworth discusses what we can expect from Thor 2
Chris Hemsworth discusses what we can expect from Thor 2

With press commitments on The Avengers finally drawing to a close, it’s time for the respective cast members to start looking forward to their individual projects. Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the hit movie, has been sharing a few thoughts on what we can expect from Thor 2.

Speaking to MTV, the Thor 2 star, who has just becaome a father for the first time, explained why Loki will always keep coming back for more, and why Thor will keep letting him – suggesting that Tom Hiddleston‘s trickster god will be a major part of the second film.

Chris revealed: “It’s what I loved about the comics. It was never clean and cut and that’s it. It was always like, Thor would forgive him, they’d be friends, and Loki would betray him again. ‘You idiot, Thor! Again?’ But it was different than your normal good guy, bad guy scenario. They’re brothers, you know? Anyone with siblings understands that. ‘That’s it, I’m never talking to you again… want to play football?’”

The dynamic between Thor and Loki will be particularly intriguing, with Loki having betrayed his brother time and again, only for Thor to repeatedly foil his plans.

As for whether the two will be able to get back on an even keel in the sequel, Chris remains uncertain. “He’s got to apologize, doesn’t he?” says the star. “Baked goods. Muffins or something. That would be a bribe we could start with. Beyond that, I don’t know.”

Thor 2 will open in the US on 15 November 2013, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.

Chris Hemsworth says Thor 2 should head in direction of Game of Thrones
Chris Hemsworth says Thor 2 should head in direction of Game of Thrones

Heartthrob Chris Hemsworth has said that Thor 2 could learn from the HOB series, Game of Thrones.

The 28-year-old actor has revealed that he is looking forward to working with director Alan Taylor, who has penned a number of episodes of the hit series, on Thor 2.

“[Game of Thrones] had a real mythical element to it, but it was rooted in such an organic and tangible world,” Hemsworth told MTV News. “I think Asgard could really benefit from that sort of a grittier, aged feel to it and not so ethereal,” he continued.

“The big thing about the comics for me was the origin story. Thor was interesting, but what I found more fascinating was the other worlds and realms that you can be taken off into.”

Thor 2 is currently scheduled for release on November 15, 2013.

Game of thrones star Emilia Clarke has recently been discussing how the hit show has effected her life: “I’m really oblivious to it, because I look so different,” said Emilia, whose natural brunette hair color makes her look quite dissimilar from her character, the white-haired, royal exile Daenerys Targaryen. Still, people do occasionally recognize her: A woman in a department store in Los Angeles was too stunned to get in the elevator when she saw that Emilia was in it. “Khaleesi?” the fan asked.

Joss Whedon discusses The Avengers sequel
Joss Whedon discusses The Avengers sequel

The Avengers director Joss Whedon has admitted that he has tried to be as careful as he can with the characters from The Avengers, so that he does not overly affect the sequels to their respective movies. Joss told Den Of Geek that he is trying to prepare the sequels and hopes that they in turn will do the same for him.

Whedon explained, “Yes, the other reason I cite comics is that there’s also a larger universe going on that you have to respect. I’m not going to do something that’s going to make Captain America 2 impossible, I’m not going to take something that should be in Thor 2 and put it in my film. I am trying to tee them up as much as I’m recovering from whatever they gave me.”
He added, “But, again, it just makes it an interesting puzzle, and although I’m not a genius of plot, I do enjoy a puzzle. There is a little bit of ‘Right, how can I progress the characters, without solving all their problems?’. I like things where you feel the resolve is ‘we’ve made a step forward’, not ‘we’ve completed the journey’.”
Joss continued, “That’s something with Buffy that we were very strict about, it wasn’t ‘well we’ve certainly cured that guy’s ills forever!’, it was like ‘okay, we’ve saved him from the thing, and eventually maybe he’ll be able to deal with the trauma’. It’s always a process.”
The Avengers is released in the UK on April 26 and in the US on May 4.
Idris Elba talks Pacific Rim
Idris Elba talks Pacific Rim

There has been a fair amount of talk surrounding the latest Guillermo del Toro movie Pacific Rim but we are still not all too clear on what the movie will be about. We know there are set to be giant monsters in Pacific Rim but that is all a bit vague. One of the actors of Pacific Rim, Idris Elba has tried to help clear things up a little but to be fair, we are still none the wiser.

Elba explained, “It’s hard to say. Godzilla would throw out the wrong sort of image, I think. We are talking about some big MF-ers. There’s a lot of actuality in this one because he’s created huge sets. I mean, we’ve taken over four sets in Pinewood in Toronto and built a lot of the stuff that you might see. Yes, there is huge CGI I’m sure, but we built a lot of stuff too.”
Idris Elba is one of the busiest actors in the business right now, as he is out and about helping to promote, not one but two of his upcoming movies, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and Prometheus. He is also busy filming current movie Pacific Rim and then there is the fact that he is signed up for Thor 2. We hope he does not enjoy an active social life.
Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye to get The Avengers spin off?
Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye to get The Avengers spin off?

There is just a few more months before we get to see Jeremy Renner on the big screen, portraying the character Hawkeye in the Marvel movie The Avengers and it may not be the last time that we see him in the role. There has been a lot of talk about possible spin offs to come from The Avengers, with many hoping to see Jeremy Renner return with a Hawkeye movie.

However, Jeremy claims that a Hawkeye spinoff is highly unlikely and that there is more of a chance of him returning to the big screen as part of another team. That suggests that there is a possibility that Marvel could be set to make a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, which would feature Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury.
There are a number of different directions that Marvel could go following The Avengers movie and we already have Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 set to be released. We could be seeing a number of spin offs from The Avengers for many years to come, so Jeremy Renner might just get his Hawkeye movie. The Avengers is set to be released on April 27 in the UK and May 4 in the US.
Tom Hiddleston reveals Loki’s Earth destroying army in The Avengers
Tom Hiddleston reveals Loki’s Earth destroying army in The Avengers

With The Avengers just a few months away there has been a lot of promotional material floating about, with interviews from some of the stars, to official The Avengers movie posters and even The Avengers official movie trailer. Now, Tom Hiddleston has spoken about how his character Loki aims to destroy Earth with his army of villains from around the universe.

Tom explained, He and Thor [Chris Hemsworth] literally have superhuman powers. Within the Marvel Universe, Loki has the keys to the universe, and he’s been down all those dark alleyways in space. He’s met all the monsters and made friends with them. He’s an all-power-being. Loki’s agenda, like all delusional, would-be autocratic fascists, is power, which he believes will give him self-esteem.”
He added, “I haven’t let go of the fact that he’s still motivated by this terrible jealousy and spiritual desolation.” Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth will be getting to know each other very well following last year’s Thor, this year’s The Avengers and next year’s Thor 2. The Avengers is set to be released on April 27, 2012 in the UK and May 4, 2012 in the US.
Is Idris Elba going to be in The Avengers?
Is Idris Elba going to be in The Avengers?

Idris Elba appeared in last year’s superhero movie Thor as Heimdall and there has been a lot of talk about him having a cameo appearance in this year’s Marvel blockbuster The Avengers. The movie is already going to see Chris Hemsworth appearing as Thor, as well as Tom Hiddleston as Loki and even a cameo from Stellan Skarsgard as Erik Selvig but there has been no word of Idris Elba.

With all of these characters from Thor already appearing in The Avengers you would think that they would not want to add any more, as it could make The Avengers appear more like a Thor sequel. However, an Idris Elba cameo as Heimdall has not yet been denied but Idris has claimed that he is unsure that it will happen, as time is really running out.
Idris Elba will definitely be reprising his role as Heimdall in the future, as he has been confirmed to appear in the Thor sequel. Thor 2 is currently being scripted by Don Payne and Robert Rodat and filming on the movie is expected to begin later this year, with a release date currently set for November 15, 2013. As for The Avengers, that will be released in the UK on April 27, 2012 and the US on May 4, 2012.
Tom Hiddleston upset at Kenneth Branagh’s Thor exit
Tom Hiddleston upset at Kenneth Branagh’s Thor exit

Tom Hiddleston put in a rather impressive performance when he portrayed the role of Loki in the Kenneth Branagh directed Marvel movie Thor. Tom is set to reprise his role as Loki in The Avengers, which is released next year and he is also expected to return to the role for Thor 2. However, Tom has revealed that he was very upset upon learning that Kenneth Branagh would not be returning to helm the movie.

Hiddleston explained, “You know, initially, I was sad that he wasn’t coming back. When I had heard that he had chosen not to come I was very sad because I’m so proud of his achievements in directing that film. But, then, I understand why. He’s very busy and he’s got other things that he wants to do as an artist. As a director and as an actor.”
He added, “And Marvel is so clever, they know their own metal. They know how to do the comic book stuff. Car explosions and all the CGI and stuff, but they need someone who has a really great handle on story and actors and the muscularity of performance.” Thor 2 is currently pencilled in to be released on November 15, 2013 but that is subject to change.
Chris Hemsworth gives approval to Thor 2 director Patty Jenkins
Chris Hemsworth gives approval to Thor 2 director Patty Jenkins

Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has made it perfectly clear that he is disappointed that director Kenneth Branagh will not be returning for the sequel. However, Chris has given his approval to Patty Jenkins, who has been rumoured as the replacement director for Thor 2.

Hemsworth explained, “Branagh read every comic book he could get his hands on. She also looked like she had done her homework.” He then continued, “She has a great take on the story and a solid grasp on that kind of universe.”
The first Thor movie came under much criticism from movie goers, however the fact it managed to bring in a massive $446million worldwide has guaranteed a sequel. Patty Jenkins has not yet been officially confirmed for Thor 2, which is currently pencilled in for a July 26 2013 release but Chris Hemsworth’s approval should help her cause.
Thor 2 to get new director
It has been confirmed that director Kenneth Branagh will not be returning to helm the sequel ti the comic book movie Thor. It is believed that Kenneth will be returning in another capacity, likely to be on the production side of things but Thor 2 will indeed have a new director.
It is claimed that the decision for Branagh to step down was made by mutual consent, although it was believed that Kenneth had expressed an interest in returning for Thor 2. Thor 2 is set to hit the big screen on July 26, 2013 and will once again star Chris Hemsworth in the lead role.
Although Thor did not exactly receive the highest praise from the movie critics, it still managed to make an impressive $66 million (£41 million) at the US box office on the opening weekend and has grossed a massive $437 million (£272 million) so far. That makes Thor the most successful superhero movie of the year so far, although there is still Captain America to be released on July 22.
