The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire not directed by Gary Ross
The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire not directed by Gary Ross

It was reported earlier this week that The Hunger Games director Gary Ross had told Lionsgate that he would only return to direct The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire, if they upped the amount they had paid him to direct the first movie. However, it appears that that is not exactly the case.

A production insider has apparently told The Playlist that Gary Ross is not interested in a big money offer, as he has no interest in returning to direct The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire. Instead, he is going to work on a project that he has written himself.

It is no secret that Gary Ross is not a director that likes to stick to the same thing but it was thought that he may be tempted to return for Catching Fire. Now the hunt is on for Lionsgate to find a new director for Catching Fire, which is expected to start shooting this summer.

A script for Catching Fire has been penned by Oscar winning writer Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) but that script is expected to see a rewrite or two. Catching Fire will see the return of Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth and is expected to be released in November 2013.
The Hunger Games sequel hits problems
The Hunger Games sequel hits problems

Following the success of The Hunger Games, it was obvious that a sequel was going to be made and Lionsgate plan to push ahead with Catching Fire. However, The Hollywood Reporter have claimed that there has become a bit of a problem which could delay Catching Fire.

Lionsgate were hopeful that they could get director Gary Ross to return for Catching Fire but it seems that negotiations are not going great. Gary accepted a fee of just $3m, along with five percent of backend, to write and direct The Hunger Games but is hoping for much more to do Catching Fire.

Then there is the problem with Jennifer Lawrence, who will be returning to reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen. Jennifer is also signed on to do the X-Men: First Class sequel, which could get in the way of Catching Fire. However, Coming Soon claim that Fox will film X-Men: First Class 2 in January, allowing Catching Fire to be filmed this year.

Now it is all in the hands of Lionsgate, who need to decide whether to pay Gary Ross the fee that he is asking for or go in search of a new director. Catching Fire is currently expected to be released in November next year.
Kim Kardashian to start dating Kanye West
Kim Kardashian to start dating Kanye West

It has been reported that Kim Kardashian is finally going to give in and start dating rapper Kanye West. Earlier this week, Kim claimed that she was still not yet ready to start dating again, following her failed marriage to Kris Humphries, but now it appears that she has changed her mind.

A source told Us Weekly, “They’ve been friends for years. Kim is ready to give it a try now.” Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have been romantically linked on a number of occasions but have always denied any romance. Kanye recently rapped about Kim.

He sang, “Only n—-a I got respect for is Wiz, And I admit I fell in love with Kim around the same time she fell in love with him.” West even had a dig at Kim Kardashian’s ex Kris Humphries, who plays for the Jay-Z owned New Jersey Nets.

He continued, “Well that’s cool, baby girl, do your thing, lucky I ain’t have Jay drop him from the team.” Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were spotted on a movie date on Wednesday, when they went to watch The Hunger Games together.

Is The Hunger Games too violent?
Is The Hunger Games too violent?

I have read a lot of reviews and reports regarding the movie The Hunger Games and it seems that many parents believe that The Hunger Games is too violent. Lionsgate cut out seven seconds of footage to meet the 12A requirement in the UK but it seems that some parents are still not satisfied.

One woman claimed that she walked away from the cinema after watch The Hunger Games, feeling like a bad parent for letting her child watch such a violent film. Another parent claimed that they felt The Hunger Games could have an effect on adults and not only children.

However, I have to completely disagree with them. The Hunger Games is a book that is all about violence and blood and gore and I for one was disappointed that it was only a 12A. However, I can understand why they did this, as it draws in a wider audience.

The Hunger Games does show the odd small amount of blood and a certain amount of death but to claim that it is too violent is ridiculous. The world seems to want to wrap children up in cotton wool these days and is becoming a complete nanny state. It is not good for these children, who will grow up not realising what really happens in the real world.

Is The Hunger Games too violent? Not on your nelly! Arriba!!
Books to movies and the actors who are cast
Books to movies and the actors who are cast

Right, I’m sick to death of people complaining about who gets cast as their favourite character when a book gets adapted into a big screen blockbuster. There is always somebody complaining that this person is not right or that person is not right and it drives me crazy.

The only that this could ever be stopped is if everybody had the same imagination and saw each and every character in the same way as everybody else. But if everybody had the same imagination, what would be the point in reading the book in the first place.

We had it with Twilight, now it’s happening again with The Hunger Games and it is bound to happen again in the future. What people don’t understand, is that the actors or actresses that they suggest should have played the character instead, would then annoy somebody else, who does not agree with their opinion of who should play the character.

People need to stop getting too involved in who the actor or actress is and just enjoy the movie. After all, it is a movie BASED on a book, there will always be differences. If you are going to complain about it, don’t go and watch it. Rant over. Arriba!!
Jennifer Lawrence weight insults do not affect her
Jennifer Lawrence weight insults do not affect her

The Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence has come under some scrutiny recently for supposedly carrying some extra weight. However, Jennifer has been rolling with the punches and has been laughing off the insults, claiming that they would always find something to pick on.

A source explained to the Chicago Sun Times, “Jennifer told me, ‘This is hilarious. First, people say how so many actresses in Hollywood look anorexic, and now they are criticising me for looking normal. Thin body images are too often adopted by young girls and women thanks to what they are constantly being shown as being attractive.”

Jennifer Lawrence herself has previously addressed the subject of her weight, claiming that she did not diet for the role but still managed to experience a certain amount of weight loss. To say that Jennifer Lawrence is fat in any sense of the word is ridiculous, as she is a beautiful young woman and a great role model to go with it.

Recent comments regarding Jennifer Lawrence’s weight has caused uproar among The Hunger Games fans, especially those from film critic Todd McCarthy who claimed that Jennifer has “lingering body fat”, and also Jeffrey Wells who referred to Lawrence as a big boned lady.
The Hunger Games was not cut by BBFC
The Hunger Games was not cut by BBFC

It has been confirmed by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), that they did not make any cuts to The Hunger Games. Lionsgate made a seven second cut themselves and also removed splashes of blood, in order to meet the BBFC’s 12A guidelines for British release.

Dave Austin, the BBFC’s head of policy, explained, “We didn’t cut any of this film. We offered a 15 uncut to the distributor. The distributor said, ‘We want a 12. We will cut the film ourselves to get a 12 to meet the BBFC’s guidelines’. That’s what they chose to do and that’s what they did. We did not insist on any of these cuts; it was purely a choice by the distributor.”

He added, “The Hunger Games came to us some time ago and the distributor Lionsgate told us they wanted a 12A classification. When we saw the film we told them that although much of the film was appropriate according to the BBFC’s guidelines there were certain sequences which went beyond what’s acceptable at 12A - beyond what the public told us is acceptable at 12A.”

Austin continued, “Therefore the film was heading towards 15. We did suggest some changes that they might like to consider if they wanted to achieve the 12A.”

We reported yesterday that The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire would be released this year but if you clicked the Read More link, you will have seen that it was actually an April Fool’s joke.
Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus buy a farm
Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus buy a farm

It has been reported that The Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth and his multi talented girlfriend Miley Cyrus have decided to buy a farm together. It is no secret that Miley is a bit of an animal lover, especially dogs, and she has always been keen on having her own farm.

An friend of the couple explained, “Miley has always been an animal person, ever since she was a little girl and she loves her and Liam’s dogs to bits. But she has always talked about having her own farm and getting her hands dirty in the running of it.”

They added, “Obviously they will need to get somebody in who knows exactly what they are doing and can take care of the place while Liam and Miley are working but Miley is very serious about pulling her weight on the farm and really making it work.”

It is not yet known exactly how many of what animals Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus have on their farm and it is believed that neither of them have any real farming experience. However, they do both have plenty of cash, so paying someone to run the place for them will be no problem.

The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire moved forward for December release this year
The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire moved forward for December release this year

It has been reported that the sequel to the record breaking movie The Hunger Games, which is titled Catching Fire, has had its release date brought forward from the end of next year to December this year, in a bid to keep the ball rolling on the franchise.

Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson and pretty much everybody else in The Hunger Games have confirmed that they are willing to jump straight back on board to film Catching Fire as soon as possible. Director Gary Ross has also vowed to return for Catching Fire.

The plan is to get filming underway right away, with some of the footage from The Hunger Games that had to be cut, being used for Catching Fire. Gary is also keen to film with whatever actors he can, whenever he can and does not necessarily need the whole cast available all of the time.

It is a bold move from Lionsgate and just as bold a move from everybody else involved but there seems to be a slight fear that some fans were a bit disappointed with The Hunger Games, so they are bringing out Catching Fire in December this year to try and make amends to those fans.
