One Direction Discuss JLS
One Direction Discuss JLS

The One Direction boys say that fellow boyband, JLS, have given them a lot of advice over the past year.
One Direction

One Direction have revealed that they often ask JLS for advice and support and have described the four-piece group as “nice lads”. The ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ singers and JLS have been openly supportive of each other since achieving chart success, both off the back of talent show The X Factor, and One Direction say it’s an important relationship for them.

“They really look after us,” Harry Styles told British Mirror Magazine Celebs Sunday supplement. ‘They just say stuff to us like enjoy it, but that they’re not going to tell us what to do, it’s our thing. They are nice lads.”

“Yes, Niall is good mates with them,” Louis Tomlinson continued. “Niall wants to be in JLS!”

JLS stars Oritse Williams and JB Gill admitted they enjoy giving advice to the One Direction boys, and feel kinship with them because both bands started out on The X Factor.

“We give One Direction advice about everything,” Oritse said, in a separate interview. “Tell them to enjoy it, hold it together, look after each other and to keep things to yourselves. Work hard.”

JB added: “They started the same way as us, so sometimes when they’re performing they’ll text us and ask us things.”

JLS and One Direction notably teamed up with the finalists on The X Factor 2011 for the charity single ‘Wishing On A Star’, as well as performing together for the show’s live final in December last year.

JLS singer Oritse Williams pens songs for Usher and Jedward

JLS singer Oritse Williams has revealed how he has been writing songs nonstop and has even offered one of his songs out to Usher but has yet to hear anything back. However, Oritse has had one of his songs snapped up, by Irish duo Jedward.

Williams explained, “I write songs and try songwriting for other people as much as possible. I keep writing and writing. I pitched a song for Usher the other day and haven’t heard anything back yet, but I wrote a song for Jedward - their last single ‘Wow Oh Wow’.”

He added, “It wasn’t widely known. I didn’t initially write the song for them, but when they were looking for songs, I thought it would be perfect. Louis Walsh called me up and said, ‘I heard you wrote this song. Can I use it for Jedward?’ and I said, ‘Why not? Go for it’.”

Oritse then revealed a few of the people that he would love to writ with, adding, “I’d love to write with Ne-Yo, or Bruno Mars, and also Gary Barlow. One day, if there is an opportunity, I’ll take it up.”

JLS gay rumours do not affect them
JLS gay rumours do not affect them

JLS have admitted that they do not let the rumours that they are gay affect them in any way. The boys all insist that they are straight but admit that, even if one of them was gay, they would be supportive of their bandmate.

Aston Merrygold explained, “Anyone in a boyband from Take That to Boyzone to Westlife, they’ll tell you… it happens to them all. Back in the day you’d read stuff and it was like, ‘This one’s gay, this one’s this ‘n’ that’… It’s a bit, like, change the record. It’s all a bit boring.”

He added, “If it was one of us, one of our friends who was gay, it just wouldn’t matter.” Aston’s JLS bandmate Oritse Williams then chipped in by admitting that the gay rumours do not actually bother them and they seem to annoy their fans more than anyone.

Williams said, “The gay rumours don’t bother us at all. We have a huge gay following and our music is for everybody, we always say that. If someone tweets something negative, the rest of the fans go in so hard on that person that no-one really does it anymore. It’s sad, though. It’s just someone who’s got nothing better to do with their life.”

It has been reported that JLS singer Aston Merrygold was rushed to hospital following a stunt that went wrong. Aston has become quite famous for doing his back flips but it seems that he may have become a little complacent with them. During rehearsals for the JLS 4th Dimension Tour, Aston misjudged a back flip and landed on his head, causing concussion.

JB explained, “This show really has been blood, sweat and tears … and scratches. We’re all injured. One of our dancers slipped a disc, one had a really bad neck injury and one a knee injury. Then Aston fell on his head which was pretty nasty.”

Aston then added, “It’s been full-on. As well as landing on my head, I busted my knee and J.B. did his, too.” Marvin then chipped in, “Aston also nearly drowned during one of the water stunts. Our lives have definitely been at risk.”

He continued, “We wanted to step it up, so we’ve gone crazy. It’s a show, not a concert. We wanted it to be a proper event. I’ve got bruises and scratches all over my body.” Well it seems like the JLS 4th Dimension Tour could be spectacular, or it could be a blood bath.

Former X Factor wannabes JLS have revealed that they are going to be putting on a show that their fans will never forget, when they embark on their 4th Dimension tour later this year. The 4th Dimension tour is set to kick off in Birmingham on March 16 and the JLS lads have admitted that there will be an element of magic in their show.

Oritse Williams explained, “For us it’s always about the element of surprise, but what I will say is it’s going to be like The Matrix combined with magicians David Blaine and Dynamo.” Meanwhile, his JLS band mate Aston Merrygold revealed what the fans can expect from their outfits on the tour.

He added, “Yesterday we tried our outfits and they’re literally like costumes that you see in films.” The JLS 4th Dimension tour will see the boyband travel around the country, stopping off at places such as Newcastle, Manchester, London and Glasgow.

JLS star Aston Merrygold reveals bullying ordeal
JLS star Aston Merrygold reveals bullying ordeal

JLS singer Aston Merrygold has revealed how he was bullied when he was younger because of his race. Aston stated that he felt terrible about himself because of the bullying ordeal and lost all of the confidence he had in himself.

Merrygold explained, “I know what it feels like to be bullied. When I joined my school football team aged 14 I was abused because of my race. I was the only black kid on the team and some of the others picked on that. I am mixed race, half black and half white, but they would call me ‘Paki’ because they thought I looked Asian. They would say things like ‘you little black b******’. Looking back now, it was disgusting.”

He added, “I lost all my confidence while I was being bullied. It makes you question everything about yourself; your appearance, how you act, where you’re from. It becomes harder and harder to talk to someone even though talking to someone is the right thing to do. Things are even tougher for young people today because of cyber-bullying. When you are getting bullied online it can feel hard to escape.”

Aston continued, “I think what happened to Cher Lloyd was awful. She’s an amazing singer and a great talent but she was tormented by internet trolls. That probably made her not want to do this job anymore. But look at her now; she’s grown into a fantastic, beautiful, strong young woman. She shows you don’t need to give into the bullies.” Aston Merrygold was one of the famous faces to take part in the anti bullying campaign, The Big March yesterday.

JLS singer Marvin Humes reveals Rochelle Wiseman proposal

JLS singer Marvin Humes has revealed how he practiced his proposal to girlfriend Rochelle Wiseman over and over again but when it came down to it, he simply could not get the words out. Marvin proposed to Rochelle on New Year’s Eve, while they were on a holiday in Antigua but admits that he was a mumbling mess.

Humes explained, “I can’t tell you how many times I’d rehearsed what to say, but when the moment came to speak it all went to pieces - the only time I’ve ever messed my words up! I was stuttering and stumbling. I said to Rochelle, ‘I want to make you the happiest man… No, I mean I want you to make me the happiest man’. It was getting all confused.” Meanwhile, Rochelle revealed how he constant obsession with her engagement ring became a bit much for Marvin.

She added, “I kept waking up, gazing at my ring and thinking, ‘Yes!’ After a couple of days Marvin did have to say to me, ‘Babe, you’ve got to stop looking at it!’” Recent reports have revealed how The Saturdays are looking to get a reality television series in the US financed, which could see the girls move Stateside.
JLS will never fall into drugs
JLS will never fall into drugs

The JLS boys have revealed how they will never end up the same way as their idol Whitney Houston, as they will fall into the drugs traps. JLS claim that they do not even get offered drugs because that is much more old school and tends to happen more to solo artists.

Oritse explained, “We don’t get offered drugs just because we’re in the spotlight. That’s very rock’n’roll. It’s very old school. I know some artists might say different but in our circle and the people that we surround ourselves with, we’ve never had any instances of people offering us this or that.”

JB added, “It’s different when you’re a solo artist, it would be very hard and very difficult. Especially if you’re young as well – you generally spend time with people who are a lot older than you. Sometimes you can be influenced by people around you. Number one, it’s different with a group and number two, we’ve been lucky.”

He continued, “You hear all sorts of horror stories from the past history of the industry but we’ve had good people around us, great management, great people.” JLS are set to release their Sports Relief single Proud, which will be available for download on March 18 and available in stores on March 19.

Take That singer Gary Barlow has revealed how anybody who attends the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert should be prepared to have the best time of their life. Gary admitted that the concert is set to be amazing, with acts such as Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Tom Jones, Dame Shirley Bassey, Jessie J and JLS, and that the fans are set to have a time they will never forget.

With Buckingham Palace as a backdrop it’s going to be a fantastic event which transcends multiple decades of music. It’ll be a great, unique experience for the thousands attending and watching on TV.”

Gary Barlow has previously admitted that he had to strong arm many of the acts into appearing at The Diamond Jubilee concert and even sent their invitations on Royal notepaper. All of the acts have also been given the promise that they will get to meet the Queen herself. JLS talk Sport Relief single Proud

JLS have been discussing how proud they are to be involved in this year’s Sport Relief, by releasing the official charity single aptly titled Proud. The boys have spent some of their time out in Uganda, where they admitted that they had mixed emotions about the experience, as the poverty was terrible but the improvements being made were great.

JB explained, “It was eye-opening in a good and bad way. You see so much abject poverty in a country with a lot of raw wealth. You see how just a few changes could make a huge difference for everyone. We saw some of the projects that Sport Relief have already set up, and the difference in the people was huge. It’s very different just watching it on TV once a year.”

Oritse then admitted that he hoped the single could raise a lot of money for Sport Relief. He added, “It was trending worldwide on Twitter, which was absolutely incredible. It shows the enormity of the cause. Hopefully it generates a lot of money for Sport Relief.” You can purchase the JLS charity single Proud, which is released in aid of Sport Relief on March 16.

JLS give new album update

JLS have revealed that they are currently half way through completing their fourth studio album, which will be the boys fourth studio album in as many years. JLS are currently working with a number of American songwriters and artists, as they aim to make their new album their best to date. Marvin Humes has revealed how JLS manage to make so many albums in such a short space of time.

Humes explained, “We’re halfway through it at the moment and we’ve already put a lot of material together. We’re off to Los Angeles to work with Babyface, Sean Garrett, who’s one of America’s biggest songwriters, and Bangladesh (Rihanna, Lil Wayne). We’ll be there for two weeks to wrap it up and then we’re back in the UK for our tour. Then we’ll prepare to release our new single.”

He added, “People always say we’re working too hard, but we’re constantly writing all the time for fun. We write together, individually and in pairs so it means we often get a lot of material together very quickly.” JLS have recorded a song in aid of Sport Relief, which is titled Proud and is set to go on sale on arch 16.

JLS to release stripped back album

JLS have revealed that they are all massive fans of singer songwriter Ed Sheeran and that they would love to do a duet with him. Now the former X Factor contestants have revealed that they intend to release an album that is much more stripped back and takes them back to their roots. Meanwhile, they also admitted that they would love to work on a track with singer songwriter Adele.

Aston explained, “There’s already been a few moments like that on our previous albums, but we want to take some of it back to our roots from when we first began. We love the way that Ed performs on stage, it’s incredible. We think we could do something amazing together in the studio. We believe it’s all in the pipeline.”

Marvin added, “I’d love to write with Adele as well. She’s an incredible songwriter, but recently she only seems to be credited for her albums sales. It’s only ever her and one producer and her in the studio. We’d love to set something up with her.” JLS release the single Proud, which is in aide of Sport Relief on March 16.
