Will ‘Batman: The Dark Knight Rises’ Be The Last In The Franchise?
Will ‘Batman: The Dark Knight Rises’ Be The Last In The Franchise?

The trailer for Batman: The Dark Knight Rises looks incredible, but while we’re thrilled about the arrival of the film into UK cinemas, it sounds as though lead actor Christian Bale might actually feel the complete opposite about the whole franchise – as sources reveal that he can’t wait to give up his role as Batman.

In fact, according to his co-star Matthew Modine, Christian has apparently ‘had enough’ of playing the well-known superhero.

Matthew told E Online, “I think Christian may have had enough. You don’t want to become a sort of paraody of what it is. There was a point when you wished Sean Connery would have stopped. He was just getting too old and toupes were getting too bug. They’re going to go out winning.”

Whilst we’re not sure Christian is in need of a toupe just yet, we can’t imagine he’ll continue playing a character that he doesn’t want to play. And yet, despite Matthew’s claims, Christian sounds far more open to coming back for a fourth film, if indeed a fourth film goes ahead.

“I think it’s appropriate, I think it’s going out at the right time,” he told Empire. “But if Chris [Nolan; Director and Writer of The Dark Knight Rises] came to me with a script and said, ‘You know what? There is another story’, then I would love the challenge of making a fourth one work.”

Still, whether there may or may not be another film is not the focus at the moment. Instead, it’s all about the eagerly anticipated release of The Dark Knight Rises on 20 July. It’s going to be one of the biggest releases of the summer, and we can’t wait to go and see it!

Batman: The Dark Knight Rises extended trailer released
Batman: The Dark Knight Rises extended trailer released

The new extended trailer for the highly-anticipated final film in the Batman franchise, The Dark Knight Rises, has teased fans as the opening night draws near. However, the film does little to dispell fears that the hero will perish at the trilogy’s close.

The new two-minute long preview portrays an intensely gloomy and dire setting, as Bruce Wayne’s nemesis, Ban,e reigns.

Anne Hathaway plays Catwoman in the new flick, and appears to provide the one-liners in the movie, as villainous Bane wreaks havoc and despair. Bane is the only nemesis that has toppled Batman in the story’s past - even breaking his back in one of the comics.

‘I am Gotham’s reckoning,’ the villain announces.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman also make appearances in the trailer. Joseph, who plays John Blake, discusses the possibility that Bane has killed Batman at one point. The longstanding rumour has been that Bruce Wayne will perish in this final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins franchise.

Micahel Caine can be seen saying: ‘I won’t bury you. I’ve buried enough members of the Wayne family.’

Catwoman, or Selina Kyle, appears to try to convince Batman to give up the fight for Gotham. ‘You don’t owe these people any more,’ she pleads. ‘You’ve given them everything.’

The Dark Knight Rises has cost a staggering $250million to make, but will not be shown in 3D, only IMAX cinemas. The film opens in cinemas in the UK and US on July 20.

Bane co-creator Graham Nolan pleased with The Dark Knight Rises version
Bane co-creator Graham Nolan pleased with The Dark Knight Rises version

Graham Nolan is one of the men who was behind the creation of the Batman villain Bane and he has been discussing the portrayal of his creation in the new Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises. Graham claims that he is happy that Christopher Nolan seems to understand the character and also admitted that he was not too concerned about any of the changes to Bane.

Nolan explained, “Absolutely. Everything I’ve read about their take on Bane tells me they “get” him. We don’t know that they won’t CGI him up when the film is released. But even if they don’t, a lot of size and menace can be conveyed with camera angles and lighting.”

He added, “It doesn’t matter as long as they are a good actor. It’s all make believe anyway. Just because a character is one thing doesn’t mean the actor has to be. That’s why he’s called an actor. Does anyone think John Wayne was really a cowboy?”

Graham continued, “I don’t know what Bane’s movie background is. Maybe he was raised in Siberia or some other eastern bloc nation. Who knows? Whatever accent is used is only important in establishing where he’s from and I’m sure they took that into consideration.”

The Dark Knight Rises is released on July 20.

The Dark Knight Rises actor Christopher Judge discusses the secrecy of the new Batman movie

The Dark Knight Rises actor Christopher Judge has admitted that he cannot really talk too much about the character that he plays in the new Batman movie, due to the secrecy surrounding it. However, he did admit that it was one of the most bizarre experiences of his professional career.

Judge explained, “Well I can talk more about the experience than the role, everything about it is secret. It was one of the most bizarre experiences. Not the being on set or dealing with anyone but the secrecy surrounding it, I’ve never dealt with a project of that scale. Generally [with a regular movie] you get a script, you know what you’re shooting the next day or weeks in advance or whatever, you have time to prepare.”

He added, “Generally [on The Dark Knight Rises], what you do when you get a call time is, the AD (assistant director) would read you your lines for the next day, because nobody got scripts. So you could kind of at least have in your mind roughly what you’re gonna be doing the next day. Then, you’d get to set and it would all change and it was like that constantly. It is incredibly freeing as an actor but also incredibly scary.”

Chris continued, “[Christopher Nolan] hires people that he thinks are great actors and then gives them a tremendous amount of freedom. Oh wait! I just gave myself … that sounded really egotistical. I just called myself a great actor.”

The Dark Knight Rises cinematographer Wally Pfister teases Batman plot
The Dark Knight Rises cinematographer Wally Pfister teases Batman plot

Cinematographer Wally Pfister has worked with director Christopher Nolan on a number of projects over the years and teamed up with him again for The Dark Knight Rises. It is the third and final instalment of the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy and Wally has been discussing what he can reveal about the plot of the movie.

Pfister explained to The Cinematographer, “Not much! It’s the continuing story of Batman, beginning where it left off last time, with Batman on the run and Gotham City facing continual problems. They realise they need Batman back, but there are new villains he has to tackle.”

He added, “What I can say is that Chris has gathered a lovely family ensemble cast – with Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne again, Gary Oldman back as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, and Michael Caine as Alfred. He has also reunited Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt who we worked with on Inception.”

Wally added, “Chris came to me with the project, said it was the third and concluding part of a trilogy. He wanted there to be a bridge between The Dark Knight and this one. Batman movies have always been dark. So we’re covering some ground from the previous films, but there’s something new in this one. Chris also wanted to ‘up’ action. We’re shooting segments on IMAX again, and this will really elevate the visual aspect of the film.”

Who should play Batman after The Dark Knight Rises?
Who should play Batman after The Dark Knight Rises?

The Dark Knight Rises will mark the end of the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy and well also see Christian Bale stepping down as the caped crusader. It has already been confirmed that the Batman franchise will once again get a reboot, so who should play Batman?

Well there are a few key points to take into consideration when trying to cast Batman for the big screen. As fans of Batman will know, Bruce Wayne is a tall, attractive gentleman who has a perfect jaw line and also looks very good in a suit.

Add to that the fact that he also has to have a rather muscular physique and you have already managed to rule out a number of Hollywood’s leading men. So who does that really leave? Well one name that we have heard mentioned is Ryan Gosling, who could easily portray the suave, rich, playboy and also has the frame of a man who can take care of himself in a punch up.

Then there is Robert Pattinson, who many would be quick to dismiss. However, Robert is a very capable actor and with the right script and the right director, he could well make a good Bruce Wayne and in turn a good Batman. Robert Pattinson as Batman would also draw in the Twilight crowd, giving Batman a new fan base. He would have to bulk up a bit though.

Who do you think should play Batman when the franchise gets a reboot after The Dark Knight Rises?
Man of Steel movie to feature other DC superheroes
Man of Steel movie to feature other DC superheroes

It has been reported that the Zack Snyder directed Superman movie, Man of Steel, is set to feature some other DC superheroes, as Warner Bros. begin their movie to making more and more stand alone DC movies.

The plan is to slowly introduce some of the DC superheroes into some of the current DC movies to give fans a glimpse of the characters before giving them their very own movie. It has not yet been revealed who will be appearing in Man of Steel but it is rumoured that The Flash and Wonder Woman may stop by.

However, it has also been suggested that, since the Man of Steel movie is not due out until next year, a new Batman will be cast and will make a small cameo in the movie. This way the new Batman actor will be recognisable to fans before going on to carry their own Batman movie.

The likelihood is that the Batman cameo appearance in Man of Steel will take place after the end credits but the rumours of The Flash and Wonder Woman claim that they will appear in the actual movie. Who knows, maybe both will happen.

The Flash movie is still high on the Warner Bros. DC list
The Flash movie is still high on the Warner Bros. DC list

It has been reported that The Flash movie is still very high on the list of Warner Bros. DC movies to be released in the near future. Dan Mazeau has admitted that there is still a lot of excitement surrounding the whole DC universe and The Flash is one of the top superheroes on the list.

Mazeau explained to blastr, “I think Warner Bros. is finalising their strategy of how they want to roll out their DC superheroes, and obviously they’ve got Batman in an incredibly great place, and Green Lantern, I think, performed okay.”

He added, “I think they probably would have liked it to have done better, but yeah, there is still a whole lot of excitement for the DC universe, and I know The Flash is very high on the list.”

Dan continued, “It’s like anything, though. It has to come together with the right cast. It has to come together with the right director and sort of the right moment, and so they’re trying to push the rock up the hill… hopefully there will be some news soon, but right now I can’t really say anything else.”

It is believed that the screenplay for The Flash is still undergoing a few revisions.
New The Dark Knight Rises Images
New The Dark Knight Rises Images

The third and final Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy is still a few months away yet. However, the closer we get to the release date, the more promotional material we are likely to see, such as these new The Dark Knight Rises images.

The images are from a set of The Dark Knight Rises standees, which are set to go on sale and help to promote the movie. They are not the most exciting images you will ever see but, nonetheless, they are The Dark Knight Rises images.

For anybody who is unfamiliar with standees, they are a large, self standing display, which companies send out during the promotion of their movie. The Dark Knight Rises standees show Christian Bale in a typical Batman pose, as well as two of Tom Hardy as Bane and one of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.

Check out the images of The Dark Knight Rises standees and let us know what you think. The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released in both the US and the UK on July 20 and we for one, simply cannot wait!
Man of Steel director Zack Snyder to make The Dark Knight Returns?
Man of Steel director Zack Snyder to make The Dark Knight Returns?

Now most of you probably already know about this because I do believe that it is actually old news but I have only just become aware of it. Apparently, a while back, Man of Steel director Zack Snyder claimed that he would love to make a Batman movie.

However, don’t get your hopes up that it will be any time soon, as he would have his sights set on making a Batman movie based on the story The Dark Knight Returns. This is the story of an aging Batman in his 50s, coming out of retirement to take on Harvey Dent and his new evil gang of mutants.

Snyder is quoted as saying, “Frank’s Dark Knight is a 50-year-old Batman. The reality is that Batman, as a franchise at Warner Brothers, is doing pretty good; people have heard of it. Chris is killing it to death. It will be only 20 years from now, and it’ll be Christian Bale in his 50s. By then, Chris will be over it and I’ll roll up and be like, ‘Let’s make a Dark Knight movie!’”

The possibility of Zack Snyder directing a Batman movie would have many fans excited, although many will also claim that nobody will ever do a better job than Christopher Nolan. However, in 20 years time, a Zack Snyder Batman movie could be just what is needed. We will have to just wait and see. Arriba!!
Andrew Garfield discusses The Amazing Spider-Man costume
Andrew Garfield discusses The Amazing Spider-Man costume

Andrew Garfield is set to appear on the big screen later this year as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man, in the Marc Webb reboot The Amazing Spider-Man. Andrew has been discussing his feelings about the Spider-Man costume, claiming that it feels quite liberating.

Garfield explained, “It was a mixed moment. I have to say, it was incredibly overwhelming, of course, but I didn’t quite identify with it because I — you know, one amazing thing about Spider-Man is [he’s] the only superhero where you can’t see any skin colour.”

He added, “I think that’s why he’s so, kind of, universally relatable and beloved, whereas Batman you can see it’s a white guy under the thing and whatever. I didn’t feel like me. There’s something kind of liberating about that.”

Andrew continued, “I think that’s pretty much how Peter Parker feels, as well. He’s like, ‘Oh, I’m not me anymore. I can be whatever I need to be or whatever I want to be.’ And that creates mischief, that creates…there’s a lot to talk about with that, as well. It was a fun role to play.”

The Amazing Spider-Man is set to be released on July 3.
