What’s In Store For Phase Two Of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe?
What’s In Store For Phase Two Of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe?

With the extraordinary success of the most recent Avengers movie, attention is now focused on what lies in store for phase two of Marvel’s cinematic universe.

With the inevitable sequels already filming or well into pre-production, questions and rumours are abound about what exactly lies in store for Marvel and who will be next to make an appearance?

Further possibilities have come to light concerning Shane Black in Iron Man 3, with a possible hint that Ant-Man himself will be making some sort of appearance in the post-credits. According to the most recent podcast from The Playlist, it seems that the post credits scene in Iron Man 3 will effectively serve as the introduction to Hank Pym aka Ant-Man.

What’s more, the scene is reportedly to be directed by Edgar Wright, just as Joss Whedon directed Thor’s post credits scene directly setting up The Avengers.

This would make sense as Edgar Wright has been attached to an adaptation of Ant-Man for the last few years now, and this could well back up Wright’s earlier statements, saying that he was hoping to shoot some of Ant-Man this year.

Marvel have gone on record saying that Iron Man 3 is going to be a completely standalone story with S.H.I.E.L.D only playing a minor role this time around with Cobie Smolders’ Maria Hill playing a similar role to what Agent Coulson did in the first Iron Man film.

News also comes today in relation to William Sadler’s role in the movie. It was first reported that Sadler would be playing Dr. Sal Kennedy, a longtime friend of Tony Stark, in the threequel. Now, The Playlist via their podcast, report that Sadler will actually play a general and superior to Don Cheadle’s Col. James Rhodes.

Robert Downey Jr Making 10 Times More Than Avengers Co-Stars
Robert Downey Jr Making 10 Times More Than Avengers Co-Stars

Robert Downey Jr is raking in the cash after the Iron Man star has reportedly picked up around 10 times more than his Avengers co-stars.

The hugely popular Avengers Assemble continues to makie millions worldwide and Robert Downey Jr could receive up to $50 million after his stint as Iron Man, which is a staggering 10 times higher than the amounts received by any of his five co-stars in the film.

We bet Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L Jackson were less than impressed with the news.

Avengers Assemble is a huge box office hit, grossing more than $1 billion and well on course to become the third most successful cinematic production of all time behind “Avatar" and "Titanic."

Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo took home relatively low salaries of between $2 million and $3 million, while Samuel L Jackson and Scarlett Johansson made about twice that.

And the huge payout is apparently all down to a deal the Sherlock Holmes star made after the success of the Iron Man film, which made a massive $585 million. This prompted a promise from the studio to pay Rob five per cent of the box office take for any future movie in which he played the character. This turned out to be a very smart move by Rob!

Chris Hemsworth discusses what we can expect from Thor 2

With press commitments on The Avengers finally drawing to a close, it’s time for the respective cast members to start looking forward to their individual projects. Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the hit movie, has been sharing a few thoughts on what we can expect from Thor 2.

Speaking to MTV, the Thor 2 star, who has just becaome a father for the first time, explained why Loki will always keep coming back for more, and why Thor will keep letting him – suggesting that Tom Hiddleston‘s trickster god will be a major part of the second film.

Chris revealed: “It’s what I loved about the comics. It was never clean and cut and that’s it. It was always like, Thor would forgive him, they’d be friends, and Loki would betray him again. ‘You idiot, Thor! Again?’ But it was different than your normal good guy, bad guy scenario. They’re brothers, you know? Anyone with siblings understands that. ‘That’s it, I’m never talking to you again… want to play football?’”

The dynamic between Thor and Loki will be particularly intriguing, with Loki having betrayed his brother time and again, only for Thor to repeatedly foil his plans.

As for whether the two will be able to get back on an even keel in the sequel, Chris remains uncertain. “He’s got to apologize, doesn’t he?” says the star. “Baked goods. Muffins or something. That would be a bribe we could start with. Beyond that, I don’t know.”

Thor 2 will open in the US on 15 November 2013, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.

Scarlett Johansson: ”I’m constantly surprised by how rude people are”
Scarlett Johansson: ”I’m constantly surprised by how rude people are”

Avengers actress Scarlett Johansson has said that she is ”surprised” at how rude people can be. The 27-year-old - who was previously married to Ryan Reynolds - admits she is sometimes shocked when fans put a camera in her face when she is trying to enjoy a private moment, and believes being famous can bring out the worst in those around her.

Scarlett revealed: ”I’m constantly surprised by how rude people are. You’ll be having an intimate dinner with a friend and there’s somebody on the table behind with a cameraphone pointing at your face. I think, ‘I would never take a photo of someone without asking. I’m not traumatized by it but I find it can bring out the worst in humanity sometimes.”

Discussing her career - which has seen her nominated for four Golden Globe awards - Scarlett claims she does not ”actively look” for sexy roles but thinks curvy women can sometimes be pigeonholed into such parts.

Speaking to The New Review, she said: ”I wanted to be a character actor. Those are the actors I most admire. I think women that are curvy can be pigeonholed in that bombshell thing. It’s not like I actively look for sexy roles. It’s not a requirement that my character be pretty and delicate. I never think about my character being sexy unless that’s written in.”

Chris Hemsworth discusses Avengers cast: ‘There were plenty of hugs on that film’
Chris Hemsworth discusses Avengers cast: ‘There were plenty of hugs on that film’

Chris Hemsworth admits there were plenty of “group hugs” on the set of Avengers Assemble.

Chris, who plays Thor in the superhero film, says the cast formed a close bond. The movie stars Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Hiddleston and Mark Ruffalo.

Chris told entertainment website, Mania: “Tom [Hiddleston] loves hugs. I did a film with him, and there were plenty of hugs on that film, group hugs.”

The Australian actor got on so well with his team members that they often got together for drinks after filming. “One day, early on in the shoot, Chris [Evans] sent us a text and said ‘Avengers assemble at such and such bar at nine o’clock.’ That was a good group effort,” he laughed.

“I keep getting asked about who was the biggest diva and things like that. There were no divas, even when we were getting into trouble. We were all are either that well behaved or everyone kept each other in check. No one wanted to be the one who screwed up.”

Heartthrob Chris feels lucky to have had the experience of playing Thor before reprising the role in Avengers Assemble, but despite having his background as Thor to draw on, he admits he felt a bit like a fish out of water.

“[Director] Joss [Whedon] said it early on: this is a dysfunctional family, and yet we somehow belong there since none of us belongs anywhere else. With Thor, the conflict and the villain was far more personal than the rest of them because it was his brother,” he explained. “It was nice to have already shot that first film and have that relationship with Tom [Hiddleston] to build on. It was fun to play that dynamic.”
