Nicole Scherzinger Confirmed As Fourth X Factor Judge
Nicole Scherzinger Confirmed As Fourth X Factor Judge

Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger has been booked to fill the fourth chair on the UK’s X Factor judging panel - it’s official.

The former Pussycat Doll was sacked from her hosting and judging role on the US version of the hit talent show earlier this year, but it seems that’s only made the way for an improvement in her fortunes, after it was confirmed that she would be replacing Kelly Rowland on the UK talent show.

Life&Style reports that Nicole has accepted a reported $1 million offer to take Kelly’s spot, after she impressed the show’s bosses with her stint as a guest judge during the London auditions last month.

The news is bound to put a smile on the singer’s boyfriend’s face, British racing driver Lewis Hamilton, as it means she will be based in the UK for several months.

X Factor has been a rollercoaster for Nicole. She was sharing hosting duties with British presenter Steve Jones on the US version of the show last year, until she stepped in to replace Cheryl Cole, after she was unceremoniously sacked by show boss Simon Cowell.

Cheryl was followed by Nicole at the end of the series, along with Steve Jones. She will now join Irish judge Louis Walsh on the panel, as well as last year’s successes Gary Barlow and Tulisa Contostavlos.

X Factor star Tulisa Contostavlos, who has been known to address rumours head-on with tweets from her Twitter account, once again took to the social media site to set the record straight about the relationship she has with singer, Rita Ora.

The former N-Dubz star wrote: ‘mags runin outa things 2 write so they talk bollocks n try n create rivalry between me n @RitaOra who I really get on with. pee off!’

The X Factor judge, who won the show last year with her act, Little Mix, then received support from her one-time co-judge and alleged rival Rita, who replied with a tweet telling Tulisa not to take the reports too seriously.

She wrote: ‘Just laugh! I had so much fun on X Factor! Its all good in the hood baby baby! #LOVE.’

Tulisa appeared comforted by Rita’s response, replying: ‘@ritaora I know babe, they’ll find any excuse! See ya soon! Nuff love xxx’.

Rita is just one of several female panellists to have taken up the position of the fourth X Factor judge this year, as show bosses search for a permanent replacement for Kelly Rowland, who worked on the ITV talent show for just one series.

Geri Halliwell, Nicole Scherzinger and Leona Lewis have also all graced the X Factor panel, which also includes Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow.

Former Spice Girl Mel B is the latest star to take up the position of guest judge, and it appears Tulisa is keen to prove she and Mel get on after the rumours about her relationship with Rita. She tweeted yesterday: ‘Having such a great day in manchester with @officialmelb @GBarlowOfficial and louis! Sum thing must be in the water, we can’t stop laughing!’

The X Factor auditions continue across the country this spring, ahead of the programme airing later this summer.

X Factor Judge Demi Lovato Opens Up About Her Daily Struggle
X Factor Judge Demi Lovato Opens Up About Her Daily Struggle

X Factor judge Demi Lovato has confessed that dealing with her demons are a “daily struggle”.

The teenager - who entered rehab in 2010 after suffering from an eating disorder and self-harming - confessed that asking for help is still “hard for me to learn.” The former Disney star has been slowly re-building her life since completing treatment but admits it isn’t easy.

Demi told Cosmopolitan magazine: “It’s a daily thing; you don’t get time off from it. And if I feel myself slipping back into old patterns, I have to ask others for help, which is hard for me to learn, because I really like doing everything on my own.”

Despite her past battles, the 19 year-old is looking forward to the future and was recently revealed as the newest and youngest ever X Factor judge. Demi may have to toughen up in order to impress the shows boss, Simon Cowell, as the star also revealed that after her struggles she finds it difficult to criticise.

“I’ve done so much in my life, it doesn’t feel right to judge other people,” she added.

Having previously dated Joe Jonas the currently single star said she wasn’t fussy when it came to men.

“I don’t have many deal breakers,” she insisted, adding: “one quality I won’t tolerate… I would never be with a guy who is controlling.”

Britney Spears upstages Demi Lovato as they are confirmed as X Factor judges

The squabbles between the judges and their categories are yet to commence, but Britney Spears is already showing rival X Factor judge, Demi Lovato, that when it comes to the fashion stakes, she’s a clear winner.

As the line-up for the second series of the reality show was unveiled today, it seems the mother-of-two couldn’t decided which dress to wear, so opted for two to maximise column inches. During today’s photocall in New York, Britney posed in a figure-hugging strappy white dress with Demi, Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid for an intimate snap which she later tweeted online.

However, during the official snaps taken against the backdrop of a Fox curtain, the Crossroads actress had changed into a slick burgundy frock as she posed next to head judge Simon Cowell. Demi, on the other hand, was seen wearing the same dress in both photos.

Today, Britney, 30, was officially announced as a judge along with Disney star Demi, 19. Simon could barely hide his delight, tweeting: ‘Can’t believe it’s finally happened. Very exciting!’

While no details as to how much Demi’s contract is worth, Britney is thought to have negotiated a $15 million pay packet to be a panellist on the show. Britney and Demi will replace Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger - who were axed after poor ratings on last year’s debut series - sitting alongside show boss Simon and music executive L.A.

The Baby One More Time star said: ‘I am so excited about this whole experience. It’s gonna be so much fun and so different from anything I’ve ever done and I’m ready to find the true star.’

Clearly excited, Demi added: ‘I am totally stoked to be here.’

Britney said in a statement: ‘I couldn’t be more excited to join The X Factor judging panel. I’m a huge fan of the show and now I get to be a part of the action. Simon and L.A. better watch out.’

Shortly before the official announcement, Britney tweeted her picture of herself with her fellow judges, captioning it: “#britneyxfactor #SimonBritneyDemiLA”

A new host for the show has yet to be announced after Steve Jones was axed after just one series.

Katy Perry and Nicole Scherzinger being considered for X Factor position
Katy Perry and Nicole Scherzinger being considered for X Factor position

There are reported to be five celebrities being considered for former Destiny Child star Kelly Rowland's job.

Amongst the celebrities being considered are Katy Perry and Pussycat doll Nicole Scherzinger. Louis Walsh told the Irish Herald newspaper, “I’ve worked with Nicole and Katy before and I would love to work with them again, they were fantastic.”

Also being considered for the position are current X Factor Australia judge and former Spice Girls star Melanie Brown, singer Anastasia, and ex-judge Sharon Osbourne.

Confirmed judge Louis Walsh said: ”Mel B knows the format so well… Anastasia has sold millions of records and is a big star and I would give anything to work with Sharon again.”

Irish Louis currently judges the show with Take That's Gary Barlow and pop star Tulisa Contostavlos.

If pop princess Katy Perry were to take on the role, it would mean leaving rumoured new lover, Florence and the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd. Katy is said to have fallen head over heels for the tattooed musician, and was seen enjoying public embraces with him recently. Robert soon started following the singer on Twitter, and it appears they’ve now fallen for each other. Katy announced her split from Russell Brand at the end of December after 14 months of marriage, and their divorce is scheduled to come through in July.

Gary Barlow confirmed judge for X Factor 2012
Gary Barlow confirmed judge for X Factor 2012

After weeks of rumours over who this year’s X Factor judges will be, Gary Barlow is officially confirmed as one of the panel.

Take That tours and Diamond Jubilee commitments had both been suggested as possible reasons why Gary Barlow would not be able to return to the ITV singing contest, but it seems he has made the hit show a priority after much schedule reshuffling. The 41-year-old singer will reprise his role as an X Factor judge, a job he is very pleased to pick back up.

Gary said: ‘I’m thrilled to be back and really looking forward to working with The X Factor team again. The fact that a superstar could just walk out on that stage is very exciting.’

Simon Cowell seemed equally as pleased with the news, saying: ‘It’s great to be able to confirm our first judge for this year’s show. Gary has earned his place and I’m excited to be working with him again.’

It has also been revealed that for the first time in X Factor history, the show will be accepting online auditions via Facebook.

Now all that’s left to reveal is who the other three judges will be… Watch this space.

Matt Cardle reveals his One Direction issues
Matt Cardle reveals his One Direction issues

2010 X Factor winner Matt Cardle has revealed how he could never have imagined having the success that he has had, with a number 2 album and a number 1 single since winning the show. Matt also spoke of his joy at seeing his friends One Direction doing so well.

Cardle explained to Now, “It’s beyond my wildest dreams. Sometimes I think: ‘Jesus Christ, what more can I do?’” He then went on to reveal how he was happy to see One Direction having so much success, although he does not miss touring with them.

He added, “Um, it’s so different what they’re doing and what I’m doing. But I’m so happy for those boys. Before they left for America I gate crashed one of their rehearsals and they haven’t changed. They just go at 100 miles an hour. On X Factor tours in the past, the female winners always had their own dressing room and the male winners didn’t. So I said I’d muck in with everyone else.”

Matt continued, “But after one show I asked for my own room because I was sick of seeing One Direction in their pants! They were jumping off the walls and bouncing off me. I was like: ‘F*ck me, I can’t handle this!’”
One Direction to change their name?
One Direction to change their name?

It seems that when The X Factor create their own groups, they do not fully research names enough. Last year’s X Factor winners Little Mix, were originally name Rythmix but had to change their name after it was revealed that there was already a charity with that name.

Not it seems that One Direction may have to change their name, after a US band came out to reveal that they already had the name One Direction before the British boyband were formed. The US One Direction now want the UK One Direction to change their name.

It is claimed that the US One Direction have legal documents, proving that they have had the name One Direction since 2009, which was before the British One Direction were put together on The X Factor. The US One Direction are also seeking £60,000 in damages and want three times the profit made by the British One Direction.

It seems that the US One Direction are trying their luck a little with their demands and the most likely outcome is that they will receive a nice pay off. It seems highly unlikely that the British One Direction will change their name. However, the US One Direction have certainly boosted their profile with this stunt.

Cheryl Cole to become just Cheryl
Cheryl Cole to become just Cheryl

It has been reported that former X Factor judge and singer Cheryl Cole is set to drop her surname and just be known professionally as Cheryl. However, Cheryl is not doing away with the Cole part of her name completely and intends to still hang on to the Cole surname.

A source explained to The Sun, “Cheryl is beginning a new chapter in her life so she doesn’t want to be associated with negative stuff from the past. She’s not removing Cole legally, it’s just a career statement.”

They added, “She’s in a really good place at the moment and wants to take life by the balls. She can’t wait to start performing live again and her new stage name has given her comeback an extra bit of spice.”

Cherly Cole, formerly Cheryl Tweedy, married Chelsea and England left back Ashley Cole in July 2006, after he had proposed to her in Dubal in 2005, when they had been dating for around nine months. However, the couple split following allegations that Ashley Cole had been having an affair.
