Wayne Rooney the stand-up comedian
Wayne Rooney the stand-up comedian

It has been reported that Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney has developed quite a hobby for stand-up comedy. It is claimed that Wayne often attends comedy nights, where he takes to the stage to perform his routine.

An insider explained, “Wayne’s a regular at comedy nights in Liverpool and Manchester. He’s always been a funny guy and has said before he’d love to be a comedian. We’ve all been going on at him so he’s vowed to us and the rest of his friends that he will get up on stage next time he’s out.”

The insider added, “The only problem with Wayne getting up to tell a few jokes is his nerves. You wouldn’t think it, but he does get nervous. He hates getting up to talk in front of crowds, let alone tell jokes. But he’s got some good material - some of it pretty controversial.”

Wayne Rooney was part of the Manchester United team that beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 5-0 at Molineux yesterday, to take the Old Trafford club four points clear at the top of the English Premier League.

Piers Morgan reveals love of Twitter
Piers Morgan reveals love of Twitter

English television personality Piers Morgan has revealed to The Mirror how he has developed a love of Twitter, claiming that he spends the majority of his day checking his account. Piers has acquired over 2 million followers and is often having debates with many celebrities.

Morgan explained, “Virtually my every waking moment is spent with a crafty eye on cyberspace attacks from all manner of sports stars, celebrities and members of the public. In fact, a large chunk of my sleep is consumed with it, too. I regularly wake in a cold sweat, having had absurd nightmares about someone breaking into my account and tweeting ‘I love Spurs' to my followers!”

He added, “I never realised how endlessly entertaining Twitter would turn out to be. Oh, the joy when I realised you could tweet Manchester United stars personally, ridiculing them for everything from their dodgy haircuts to offensive swimwear. And even more delicious when they began firing back like enraged Rambos on acid.

Piers continued, “Now I’m friends, or feuding with, about half of the Man United first team. Wayne Rooney is a very nice guy. He started direct messaging me and now we talk about all sorts of things - football, fatherhood… I am really impressed with him.”

Wayne Rooney to miss Manchester United vs Ajax match
Wayne Rooney to miss Manchester United vs Ajax match

It has been confirmed by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, that English striker Wayne Rooney will miss tomorrow’s Europa League match against Ajax at Old Trafford. Sir Alex has revealed that Wayne Rooney has been tucked up in bed since the start of the weekend with illness and that he does not seem to have gotten well enough for tomorrow’s match.

Ferguson explained, “He has a really bad throat. There were traces of it in Amsterdam and we gave him some medication but it got worse.” Sir Alex continued by adding, “He has been in bed over the weekend and came in today for the first time and we are trying hard to get him right for Sunday.”

With Wayne Rooney unfit to play, it seems all the more likely that supersub Javier Hernandez will get to lead the frontline. Good news for Manchester United is that Tom Cleverley has fully recovered from his ankle injury and is expected to play the full 90 minutes. Machester United vs Ajax is set to take place at Old Trafford tomorrow at 20:05 GMT, with Manchester United holding a 2-0 aggregate advantage over Ajax.
Four key players to return for Manchester United as they take on Chelsea
Four key players to return for Manchester United as they take on Chelsea

It has been reported that Manchester United could be set to see the return of four of their key players for the trip to Stamford Bridge, where they will face Chelsea this weekend. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that Wayne Rooney, Nani, Tom Cleverley and Ashley Young are all likely to be involved in the squad, although it was unclear how involved they would be.

Ferguson explained, “We’re a bit better in terms of injuries. We hope Wayne Rooney, Nani, Tom Cleverley and Ashley Young will all be in the squad. It’s more likely Tom will play against Chelsea Reserves on Monday, but he’ll travel. Rooney and Nani have trained for the last two days.” Sir Alex also revealed that Anders Lindegaard’s injury could be worse than they actually hope.

He added, “It looks like Lindegaard will be out for at least four weeks, maybe five to six, with ankle ligament damage. We don’t know what his recovery from injuries is like, so we’ll have to wait and see, but I would have thought at least four weeks.” Chelsea vs Manchester United will take place at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, February 5 at 16:00 GMT.
Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney to join Manchester City?
Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney to join Manchester City?

It has been reported that Manchester City are set to continue their extravagant spending with an audacious £60million offer for local rivals, Manchester United’s, star striker Wayne Rooney. While Manchester United have repeatedly stressed that Wayne Rooney is not for sale, the England International has stated that, if Sir Alex Ferguson does not invest in some world class players, he will be forced to consider his options.

There is no denying that Wayne Rooney is a world class player but his form has been inconsistent this season, much like Manchester United’s and an offer of £60million would be very difficult to refuse, especially if the player expresses a desire to leave. That amount of money could easily finance a replacement with money to spare to strengthen the squad even further.

It is highly unlikely that Sir Alex Ferguson will even entertain the idea of selling Wayne Rooney to Manchester City but he will certainly have to set his sights on some high profile signings to keep Wayne Rooney happy. Manchester United have been linked to Inter Milan midfield star Wesley Sneijder for quite some time now and signing the Dutchman could just be the world class injection that Wayne Rooney is looking for. Wayne Rooney ban gets reduced
Wayne Rooney ban gets reduced

Wayne Rooney was in Switzerland today to appeal against his three match ban, which would see him miss the whole of the group phase of Euro 2012. Thankfully for England fans, Rooney was successful in his appeal but only managed to get one match knocked off, meaning he will still face a two match ban at Euro 2012.

This means that Wayne Rooney will miss the first two games of Euro 2012 for England, which will see them face France and Sweden without their star striker. However, Rooney will now be able to return to the England starting line up for the third match of Group D, which sees England face joint hosts Ukraine. Whether or not he will actually start that match will depend on the performances of his replacement in the first two matches.

It was unclear whether or not Fabio Capello would include Wayne Rooney in his Euro 2012 squad, following his three match ban for his sending off against Montenegro in October, but now that it has been reduced, it is almost certain that he will be included. It is bad news for those who were hoping to replace Wayne Rooney in the squad but is certainly good news for England as a whole.
Wayne Rooney IS going to Euro 2012
Wayne Rooney IS going to Euro 2012

It has been reported that Fabio Capello has told Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney that he will be taking him to Euro 2012 as part of his England squad, despite his three match ban. However, Fabio has also told Wayne that he will have to sit out the forthcoming friendlies against Spain and Sweden.

Neither piece of news will come as much of a surprise to most. Yes Wayne Rooney will miss all three of the group matches with his ban but what better player to have waiting to come in to the competition, fresh for the latter stages. As for leaving him out for the friendlies, that just makes sense, as Fabio searches for Wayne’s replacement for the group games.

Fabio Capello took the time to travel to Manchester United’s, Carrington training ground to give Wayne Rooney the news in person. There has been a mixed response from England fans, with many claiming it is a waste of a place in the squad. Do you think Fabio Capello should take Wayne Rooney to Euro 2012.
Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ballon d’Or shortlist announced
Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ballon d’Or shortlist announced

The shortlist for the Ballon d’Or World Footballer of the Year has been announced and Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney is the only British player to make the list. However, it does seem highly unlikely that he will win the award as the completion is huge.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d’Or for the past two seasons and is once again the favourite to walk away with the award for a third time. However Real Madrid goal machine Cristiano Ronaldo will have something to say about that after breaking the goal scoring record in the Spanish league last season.

The last English player to win the Ballon d’Or World Player of the Year was Michael Owen, back in 2001 and it seems that we could have quite some wait before seeing another English winner. The rest of the players on the shortlist are as follows:

Eric Abidal, Sergio Aguero, Karim Benzema, Iker Casillas, Dani Alves, Samuel Eto’o, Cesc Fabregas, Diego Forlan, Andres Iniesta, Thomas Muller, Nani, Neymar, Mesut Ozil, Gerard Pique, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Wesley Sneijder, Luis Suarez, David Villa, Xabi Alonso, Xavi.
Wayne Rooney to make GB Olympic Football squad?
Wayne Rooney to make GB Olympic Football squad?

It was announced earlier this week that Stuart Pearce had been placed in charge of selecting and managing the GB Olympic Football squad. Now it has been suggested that he could be set to pick England International striker Wayne Rooney.

There is a lot of doubt over whether or not Wayne will be selected for the Euro 2012 Championships following his three match ban. So if Fabio Capello does decide to leave Rooney out of his England squad, Stuart Pearce will be ready to offer him a summer life line.

There has been a lot of discussion surrounding the GB Olympic Football team with Scotland, Wales and Ireland declaring their disapproval in the idea. However, Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, who are both Welsh, have revealed their determination to be picked.

It has also been claimed that former England captain David Beckham could also get a call up to the GB Olympic Football squad. However, Stuart Pearce has stated that players will be picked based on form and not on reputation. The GB Olympic Football squad selection will be confirmed on July 9, 2012.
Wayne Rooney Red Card
Wayne Rooney Red Card

Wayne Rooney was sent off this evening after a foolish and very intentional kick on an opposition player while playing for England against Montenegro.

Many thought that Rooney’s petulant days were behind, but after a rough few days following allegations that his father has been caught up in a betting scandal, frustration appeared to boil over as he lashed out at an opposition player after he was unable to get the ball from him.

The sending off left Rooney’s England team mates in a tough spot for the rest of the crucial game, with being a man short the attacks on goal came thick and fast which eventually led to a 90th minute equalizer for Montenegro.

Losing such a commanding lead did not hurt England come the full time whistle as the result puts England into Euro 2012 Finals in Poland and Ukraine.

This all now means with Wayne Rooney picking up a straight red card he will surely get a ban handed to him for the finals, and FIFA stipulates that if violent conduct or serious foul play is detected a ban can be increased to three games. With both of the stipulations being present in Rooney’s actions he is sure to be handed a three match ban.

This will leave Capello with a selection problem and could comprimise Wayne Rooney’s selection for the final squad at all.

Wayne Rooney Hamstring injury not serious

Wayne Rooney Hamstring injury not serious

Some great news for Manchester United fans as the injury which kept Wayne Rooney out of the Stoke clash on Saturday evening is not as serious as first suspected.

Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that the hamstring injury wasn’t as serious as first suspected, Sir Alex was speaking to MUTV when he said “We had a nightmare of a training session - Evans, Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney all got injured. Jonny thought he’d be okay but in the warm-up it was no use. With Chicharito in your team he gives you that penetration and speed, that was a loss.”

This is a bonus for Manchester United whose great start to the season is being threatened by a growing injury list which includes but not limited to Michael Carrick, Johnny Evan, Hernandez, Nemanja Vidic, Chris Smalling, Rafael, Tom Cleverley and Darron Gibson.
