Peter Berg discusses Battleship and Transformers comparisons

Battleship director Peter Berg has addressed the recent comparisons made between his upcoming movie and the Michael Bay directed Transformers movies. Peter told MTV News that, once you see his Battleship movie, you will realise that it is completely different to Transformers.

Berg explained, “I’m not familiar with it. I think Transformers is awesome. I think Bay did an incredible job with that film and I think when you sit through four minutes of Battleship you’ll realize that they are two completely different experiences.”

He added, “Obviously our big bosses who are concerned with making their money back have a vested interested in attaching themselves to other successful films. We don’t think about that, we think about making our own movie.”

Peter continued, “I’m pretty confident that whether you love Battleship or not, the issue of comparison to other films is pretty irrelevant.” Battleship stars Rihanna, Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch and Brooklyn Decker and is set to be released on April 11 in the UK and May 18 in the US.

Battleship is based on the classic Hasbro game but Peter Berg has also admitted that it is nothing like the game.

Chris O’Dowd praises Megan Fox for Michael Bay fallout

Irish comedian Chris O’Dowd has praised his Friends with Kids co star Megan Fox, who fell out with Michael Bay and was eventually removed from her role in his Transformers franchise. Chris told Toronto Sun that he believes she was right in what she did.

O’Dowd explained, “Who wouldn’t have a fallout with [Bay]? It’s one of the sexist things I’ve ever seen. She called him an a—hole. Well, he is a f-cking a—hole. She’s not the only one who has said that. Why has she been singled out?”

He added, “I don’t know the ins and outs of it, but it’s all down to having a fallout with Michael Bay. I would never f-cking watch his films, never mind go and act in them.”

Megan Fox was replaced for the movie Transformers: Dark of the Moon by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and, although Megan admits that she has yet to see the film, she did have kind words to say of her Transformers replacement recently.

Megan Fox and Chris O’Dowd will appear alongside each other in Friends with Kids, which is out now in the US and is set to be released in the UK on June 29.

Former Transformers actress Megan Fox has praised her Transformers replacement Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, despite the fact that she has yet to see her performance in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Megan claims that she has seen the trailer, which she loved and has seen Rosie around, admitting that she is a very likable person.

Fox explained, “I haven’t seen it so I don’t know what she’s like in it but I think having seen her around she’s a very likable girl and I don’t think she did anything wrong by taking that part. I mean Mike [Bay] wanted her in the movie. She was a model and she was like, ‘Yeah, I’ll be in Transformers 3’. And I’ve only heard good things about her so I have nothing negative to say.”

She added, “I wanted to see it as soon as it came out but I knew I couldn’t go to the theatre so I’ll just have to Netflix it. But yeah, I want to see it. I thought the trailer looked incredible. And you know there’s a part of me that wants to hate the trailer when it comes out, pick it apart and be like ‘I saw that in the second one’, and I couldn’t. I was like, ‘Wow, the trailer’s f**king amazing.’ It was. I don’t know about the movie, I’m going to see it, but I was impressed.”

Megan Fox can next be seen on the big screen, starring alongside Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm and Chris O’Dowd in the comedy movie Friends with Kids, which is set to be released in the US on March 9 and in the UK on June 29.

It has been reported that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will not be returning for the fourth instalment of the Transformers franchise. However, it seems that an all new cast is set to come on board, with none of the regulars returning for Transformers 4.

An insider explained, “Rosie enjoyed being in the third film but action’s not really her bag. She doesn’t want to get typecast.” Meanwhile, Josh Duhamel, who has starred in all of the first three Transformers movies, admitted that he does not believe that any of the regulars or original cast members will be coming back for Transformers 4.

He added, “I don’t think anybody’s doing it. I know Shia LaBeouf is not doing it. I don’t think Tyrese Gibson or Rosie or anybody else is doing it.” Jason Statham has been tipped to become the main character in Transformers 4 but he has admitted that he has not yet been approached to do the movie. Transformers 4 is expected to be released in the summer of 2014.

Michael Bay returning for Transformers 4, Shia LaBeouf to follow?

It has been confirmed by the man himself, that Michael Bay will be returning to direct the fourth instalment of Transformers, despite previously saying that he was finished with the franchise. So, with Michael Bay confirming he will be coming back for Transformers 4, what is the likelihood of Shia LaBeouf following suite?

Bay explained, “There has been a lot of speculation about what I’m going to do next and when or if I will do another Transformers,” Bay wrote. “So let me set the record straight: I have just concluded a deal with Paramount to do two movies, but it won’t be two Transformers. I will first do ‘Pain & Gain' with Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Then I will do the next Transformers for release on June 29, 2014.”

So what are the chances of Shia LaBeouf returning for another Transformers movie? Well he has previously suggested that he is willing to do whatever Michael Bay does, as they have become so close. However, since the Transformers franchise seems to be getting a reboot for the fourth instalment, the likelihood of Shia LaBeouf returning does look very slim. Although stranger things have happened.
