Is Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill right for Superman role?
Is Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill right for Superman role?

We still have over a year to wait yet until we can cast our eyes over the Zack Snyder directed Supeman movie Man of Steel. However, there has already been a fair amount of promotional material and also a fair amount of criticism for Superman actor Henry Cavill.

To be fair, there is always criticism coming from someone when it comes to the lead role of a major movie but it seems that Superman fans are rather angered by the choice to cast Henry Cavill as Superman in the Man of Steel. In fact, some fans even feel that it was wrong to get rid of Brandon Routh, especially since he wanted to reprise the role.

One disgruntled fan explained, “As Superman Returns wasn’t that long ago, I was a little pi**ed that they didn’t keep Brandon Routh. I thought he played the part really well in the last film and didn’t need to be changed. Especially not for some ugly dude that looks like he’s in his 40s, Henry Cavill is totally wrong for the part.”

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder recently admitted that it was between Henry Cavill and True Blood actor Joe Manganiello and it seems that the latter would have been the favourite among Superman fans. However, Henry Cavill has yet to prove himself and, given the chance, could win some fans over. We will just have to wait and see.

Man of Steel is set to be released on June 14, 2013.
Josh Hartnett in need of an agency
Josh Hartnett in need of an agency

Things have been very quiet for Josh Hartnett of late and it is not all that surprising when you consider some of the awful movies he has been in lately. Now it appears that Josh has been taking meetings with agencies, after leaving CAA and going in search of new representation.

You could compare Josh Hartnett’s life to that of the fictional Entourage character Vincent Chase. Both guys were set to become huge superstars but ended up turning down big money roles (Josh rejected the role of Superman in early 2000s, which would have earned him $100m for three movies) in favour of smaller indie movies, before falling off the Hollywood radar. It is only a matter of time before we see if Josh gets a lucky break like Vinnie did in Entourage.

Josh Hartnett is a guy who is a capable actor. He has proved that in a handful of movies but has also come across fairly wooden and emotionless in others. His lack of consistency is what has movie fans split on the actor and possibly why people are reluctant to take a risk on him.

However, with the right movie role, the right director and a committed performance, Josh Hartnett could get himself back into the big time. It is just a case of picking his movies wisely and not being afraid to be defined by a big budget superhero movie. Surely that has to be better than being defined as a failure?

Do you think Josh Hartnett has what it takes to get back into the Hollywood big time?

Zack Snyder reveals why Henry Cavill was cast as Superman in Man of Steel

Man of Steel directed Zack Snyder has revealed why he cast Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, aka Superman, in his big screen adaptation. Zack has admitted that it was ultimately came down to two people, Henry Cavill and True Blood actor Joe Manganiello but Henry just had the edge.

Snyder explained, “Henry’s just … I love Joe too, by the way. Really he was the only other guy I was thinking of, to be honest, other than Henry. In the end, I think Henry just has this innocence, too [in addition to the physicality required for the role].”

He added, “He has both, which is tricky. Superman needs the teeniest bit of that. Not to be overt, but you like it to be there ever so slightly. I mean, he grew up in Kansas, that’s just true, so you need a little of that [innocence].”

The Zack Snyder directed Man of Steel stars, along with Henry Cavill as Clark Kent aka Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Michael Shannon as General Zod and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White. Man of Steel is set to be released on June 14, 2013.

The latest Superman movie, Man of Steel, is set to hit the big screen next year and the director of Man of Steel, Zack Snyder has been talking a little about the movie. Zack claims that, because of the movie Watchmen, he has been able to make a Superman movie that he really wants.

Snyder explained, “I love making genre movies because genre movies have the potential to be the biggest movie. Watchmen is a crash course on the rules of the why of superheroes, so for me now, to go and do Superman it’s like ‘Ok, I got that, I know why.’”

He added, “Now I can make, I think, a Superman movie that gets at him and makes him relevant and you can care about him and be something that you wanna see and not go ‘That’s a joke, he’s got his glasses on so you can’t recognise him.’”

With that said, it appears that Zack Snyder may be looking for a different way for Clark Kent to hide his Superman secret, rather than just a pair of glasses. Man of Steel will see Henry Cavill in the lead role, with Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Russell Crowe as Jor-El.

Michael Shannon is set to appear on the big screen next year as General Zod, in the Zack Snyder directed Superman movie Man of Steel. Michael has been discussing his rise to fame and has admitted that he is not taking it for granted, as he knows how quickly it can all vanish.

Shannon explained, “Well, it had to happen eventually, right? Either that or fade into obscurity! It’s good to do something like this. It’s good to take on that kind of responsibility, be a grown up, be able to feel that pressure and be OK with it. And, let’s face it, it’s not neuroscience!”

He added, “I don’t see what more could be happening. Put it that way. Unless I receive a medal from the President! But you’re always reluctant to get too proud of your accomplishments in this business. It can all go south in the blink of an eye.”

Michael Shannon will star alongside Henry Cavill as Clark Kent aka Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White in the Zack Snyder directed Superman movie Man of Steel. Man of Steel is set to be released worldwide on June 14, 2013.

McG reveals his neurotic side got him Superman sack
McG reveals his neurotic side got him Superman sack

This Means War director McG has revealed how he is a very neurotic man and his fear of flying managed to get him the sack from his Superman movie back in 2005. McG also admitted that he has a burning desire to always do more and do better, which is why he is constantly getting up in the early hours of the morning to strive to improve.

McG explained, “I’m still part of the struggle, moving forward, still trying to make my best film, write the best music. I’m still striving, striving, striving. There’s a deep sense of thirst and dissatisfaction that propels me to get up at 5am. I have a waste basket of neurosis.”

He added, “I’m a fundamentally neurotic guy, I was afraid of flying for a long time and that got me sacked from Superman, because I couldn’t fly down to Australia back in 2005. So I have this place where I put all my neurotic fear and energy and these things that any sane person would be concerned about, I’m not concerned about. It’s both freeing and crippling, but it’s fuel.” This Means War is out in both the US and the UK now.
Henry Cavill the best Superman ever in Man of Steel?
Henry Cavill the best Superman ever in Man of Steel?

It has been claimed that Henry Cavill, who is set to play Clark Kent aka Superman in Man of Steel, is possibly the best Superman that anybody could ever have. The claim was made by Mirror Mirror director Tarsem Singh, who worked with Henry Cavill on the movie Immortals and Tarsem claims that he has always believed that Henry would be perfect for the role.

Singh explained, “I think he’s about the best Superman you could ever have. When I first saw him - this was before I knew he auditioned for Superman, because the last Superman had been made a year and a half before Immortals and tanked - I said, ‘This is Clark Kent!’” He also added that Zack Snyder would have to be “blind not to see how right he was for the role”.

Tarsem continued, “He’s very gentle, manly, just everything was perfect for it. He was so excited when he got it but I didn’t doubt for a second that he wouldn’t get it.” There is still quite a long wait before we get to see Henry Cavill on the big screen as Superman in the movie Man of Steel, which is released on June 14, 2013.
Henry Cavill reveals his Superman diet for Man of Steel
Henry Cavill reveals his Superman diet for Man of Steel

We have still got another year to wait until we get to final experience the latest reboot of the Superman franchise, with the Zack Snyder directed movie Man of Steel. However, with the movie already well into filming, there has already been quite a fair amount of Man of Steel material available for fans to cast their eyes over, especially pictures from the set of the Superman movie.

Now, Henry Cavill, who is the latest actor to take on the role of Superman in Man of Steel, has revealed how much effort went into his diet to help to get him into shape for the role of a lifetime. Henry revealed his diet, saying, “I’m on 5000 calories a day… You’ve got to eat protein first, then a little bit of carbs…you’ve got to keep your hunger levels going.”

That is quite some diet when you consider that if you compare a diet, 5000 calories is approximately double the recommended daily guideline amount for the average male. However, Henry Cavill needed to bulk up and he worked out so hard that his body needed the extra intake. You can see Henry Cavill in Man of Steel when it is released on June 14, 2013.
Michael Shannon discusses Zod in Man of Steel
Michael Shannon discusses Zod in Man of Steel

Hollywood actor Michael Shannon is set to appear on the big screen next year as the movie villain Zod in the latest Superman film Man of Steel. Michael has revealed that, while he is playing the bad guy in the movie, Zod is not the scariest character to ever be seen on the big screen and admitted that he is just trying to get on with his job at hand.

Shannon explained, “He’s actually a not very scary guy. He’s just trying to do his job, just like anybody.” Michael then went on to discuss how people might respond to Zod in Man of Steel, admitting that he himself is not exactly a fan of the character. He added, “Some people might hate him, some people might love him but I’m fond of him. I respect him.”

Michael Shannon recently admitted that he is not a fan of the Superman comic and cannot understand why there is such a huge buzz around the Superman movie. Man of Steel is being directed by Zack Snyder and, as well as Michael Shannon, also stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner. Man of Steel is set to be released in both the US and the UK on June 14, 2013.
The Superman movie that never was
The Superman movie that never was

Imagine a Superman movie, where Robert Downey Jr. plays the infamous villain of the piece Lex Luther. Well, there was a time when this almost came a reality, as director McG has revealed that he was all set to direct his own version of a Superman movie. McG also admits that he was looking at casting Henry Cavill as the man of steel before the project fell through.

McG explained, “We had Robert Downey Jr. locked up to be Lex Luthor, which I think would have been extraordinary. Ironically, we liked Henry Cavill a lot, but we hadn’t cast him yet.” He added, “J.J. wrote the script, and we got that to a really good place in the end but I’m to blame for the film not happening.”

McG also admitted that he was planning to make his Superman movie into a trilogy but unfortunately things did not quite work out for him. Instead, we have the Zack Snyder directed Man of Steel to look forward. Man of Steel has Henry Cavill in the lead role, along with Amy Adams, Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner. Man of Steel is set to be released on June 14, 2013.
Bradley Cooper to play Lex Luther in Man of Steel?
Bradley Cooper to play Lex Luther in Man of Steel?

The rumour mill has seriously started churning today, as reports that The Hangover star Bradley Cooper is set to appear in the Superman reboot Man of Steel as the famous Lex Luther. Zack Snyder has previously claimed that he wanted to take Man of Steel in a new direction, which had everybody wondering whether Lex Luther would be appearing in the movie, with no word until now.

We have know from the very beginning that General Zod was going to be the main villain in Man of Steel but it appears that Bradley Cooper will also be set to show his face as Lex Luther. It is unclear how big a part Lex Luther will play in Man of Steel, with many suggesting it will just be a cameo building up to a more prominent role in future sequels.

Currently though, this is all rumour and has not been officially confirmed but we would love to see Bradley Cooper as Lex Luther and a Superman movie would not be the same without the character. Man of Steel will see Henry Cavill take on the role of Clark Kent aka Superman with Michael Shannon portraying General Zod. The movie is set to be released on June 14, 2013.

Henry Cavill compares Clark Kent and Superman in Man of Steel

Henry Cavill was not everybody’s first choice to play to roles of Clark Kent and his alter ego Superman in the reboot of the franchise, with the movie Man of Steel. However, as the time has passed and we have had more and more material on the movie coming to light, people have started to take to Henry. Henry has revealed how playing both Clark Kent and Superman have come with their own difficulties but have also been relatively easy at the same time.

Cavill explained, “Both are difficult and easy to play in their respective ways. Essentially, yes, one is a disguise but the one that’s not a disguise is so unreal that brings difficulties of its own with it. Overall, there’s no one that’s easier or less easy than the other. It is a lot of fun having two characters in one role which are so intertwined with each other. It’s the same person, definitely, but it’s the presentation. And that is fun.”

Henry Cavill can be seen in his portrayal of Clark Kent and Superman when he appears alongside Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne, in Man of Steel, which is set to be released on June 14, 2013.
