Rooney Mara glad of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo break
Rooney Mara glad of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo break

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo actress Rooney Mara has admitted that she is glad to be having a break from her character Lisbeth Salander before filming for the sequel begins. Rooney claims that, while she thoroughly enjoyed her role in the David Fincher movie, she is pleased to be able to play other characters and work on other films before reprising her role.

Mara explained, “I’m happy to have a little break, but I am eager to revisit her. But, I’m happy to have a break first. For myself, it probably is easier to play a character who is much different, with an accent and who looks different and walks different. I find that much more enjoyable. But, at the same time, I felt like Lisbeth Salander was very familiar to me. We do have a lot in common. I think a little bit of both is good.”

26 year old Rooney Mara has previously insisted that she prefers to play roles, which do not receive as much mainstream attention. You can next catch Rooney Mara on the big screen, when she appears alongside Channing Tatum, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones, in the Steven Soderbergh movie The Bitter Pill, which is set to be released in 2013.

With the success of the movie The Expendables, it was pretty much guaranteed that there would be a sequel and with The Expendables 2 set to be released later this year, it is almost a certainty that Sylvester Stallone will make a third movie in the franchise and it seems that Gina Carano could be involved in The Expendables 3. Gina admitted that Stallone had wanted her for The Expendables 2, so she would expect to be involved in the third Expendables movie.

Carano explained, “Yeah, I think Sylvester Stallone was really considering me for one of the roles in Expendables 2, but they needed a girl from China because that’s where they were going to be. They needed a Chinese girl, so I didn’t fit the bill for that one. I’m sure I’m on some people’s radars, especially on the Mixed Martial Arts websites, so just stay positive and put out some good energy for me.”

Gina Carano is best known for her involvement in MMA but she seems set on becoming more recognised as an actress, as she looks to move away from the MMA scene. Gina can currently be seen on the big screen in the Steven Soderbergh movie Haywire, which was released on January 18 in the UK and January 20 in the US.
Before they were famous: Channing Tatum
Before they were famous: Channing Tatum

For many of the actors in Hollywood today they have come from an acting background and studied acting for many years before getting their big break. However, occasionally there are people that have to work odd jobs in construction, working on diggers, painting and decorating or, in Channing Tatum’s case, being an exotic dancer.

Channing Tatum was offered a football scholarship to Glenville State College in Glenville, West Virginia, when he graduated High School in 1998. However, Channing turned it down and instead moved back home to where he began working as a stripper in the local nightclub under the name Chan Crawford.

In 2010 Channing Tatum revealed that he wanted to make a movie based on his experiences. He explained at the time, “I’ve already got the director picked out. I’d like Nicolas Refn, who did the movie Bronson, to do it because he’s insane for it.” Now that movie has become a reality.

The Steven Soderbergh directed Magic Mike stars Channing Tatum as an experienced stripper who takes a new up and comer under his wing and teaches him the ropes. The movie is based on Channing Tatum’s days as a dancer and is set to be released next year. Conratulations Channing Tatum, your dream has come true.

Jude Law talks Contagion
Sherlock Holmes actor Jude Law has revealed the reasons why he agreed to take on the role of Alan Krumwiede in his latest movie Contagion. Jude admitted that the fact that the script was so well written and such a high profile director was on board made the decision much easier.

Law explained, “A lot of the reason I wanted to be a part of this project was because the script was so strong, and obviously a strong script and a brilliant director like Steven (Soderbergh), you feel, as an actor, confident that you’re almost halfway there.”

Contagion centres around a deadly disease which is spreading across the country and the group of experts that are faced with finding a cure. The movie also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon and Kate Winslet. It is already out in the US and is due out in the UK on October 21.

Steven Soderbergh to take time out

The Oscar winning director, Steven Soderbergh, has been forced to deny incorrect reports that he is set to retire from movie making.

Steven Soderbergh was speaking to reporters at the Venice Film Festival, when pressed on the retirement rumours, he replied with “It’s less dramatic that it sounds - it’s just a sabbatical,”. The rumours have been rife since he spoke to a radio station in March 2011 and gave an indication that he would be quitting after the completion of his next two movies saying “When you see those athletes hang on one or two seasons too long, it’s kind of sad,”.

With the constant rumours around his retirement apparently effecting his ability to secure studio confidence, he went on to say reiterate he would just be taking time out.
