Michelle Williams struggled to shake Dawson’s Creek image
Michelle Williams struggled to shake Dawson’s Creek image

My Week With Marilyn actress Michelle Williams has revealed how she found it rather difficult to shake the image that she had developed from her Dawson’s Creek character Jen. Michelle claims that she experienced quite a fair amount of typecasting, due to the sexuality of her character and that she wanted to move away from that, so that people could see that she was capable of playing more than one type of character.

Williams explained, “I wouldn’t say that that would be one of my first qualities as a human being - being sexy. I think because my character on Dawson’s Creek was sexy… sexualized… sexual… I saw all the negative attention and connotations that can come along with that. And that those things can keep people from seeing you clearly.”

Michelle Williams has previously admitted that she would definitely be interested in being involved in a one off Dawson’s Creek special, should the opportunity ever arise. Katie Holmes has also stated that she could see the possibility of a Dawson’s Creek reunion being fun. However, James Van Der Beek has not seemed as enthusiastic as the rest of his co stars.

My Week With Marilyn actress Michelle Williams has revealed how she always expected to have more children not long after the birth of her daughter Matilda, so that Matilda would have some siblings of a similar age to play with. Michelle also discussed how Matilda’s growing up will lead to more questions about her father Heath Ledger.

Williams explained, “I really wanted, and I really expected or imagined, that Matilda would have siblings that were close to her age. I wanted that for her. But I couldn’t make that happen. And now that she’s 6 that isn’t even a possibility anymore. So something that was making me feel impatient, that’s been removed. For whatever reason, that’s not our luck, or our path.”

She added, “You know, as hard as certain things have been for me, it’s been harder thinking about how things will be for her. I have a lot of things that she doesn’t, and some of what I have I can give to her - the memories that I have, the objects that I have, the physical reminders that I have, the stories.” Michelle Williams next film to hit the big screen is likely to be Oz: The Great and Powerful, which is set to be released on March 8, 2013.
