Manchester United’s Paul Pogba still in contract limbo
Manchester United’s Paul Pogba still in contract limbo

The Paul Pogba Manchester United contract saga is still far from over, with the player still reluctant to sign a new contract with the Premier League champions. However, it appears that one of the main reasons that Paul Pogba has yet to sign a new contract, is his agent.

The French midfielder has been offered a highly lucrative four year contract by Juventus, which would see his agent Mino Raiola pick up around £1.65m. This has encouraged his agent to try and convince Paul Pogba that his future lies in Italy.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has made it perfectly clear, on a number of occasions, that he sees Paul Pogba as a key member of the future of Manchester United. Yet it seems that not even such high praise from one of the best managers the game has ever seen can persuade the teenager.
Paul Pogba is expected to be involved in the Manchester United match at Wigan Athletic tonight but as the season begins to draw to a close, it could also see the end of Paul Pogba’s Manchester United career. If he left, it would be the biggest mistake of his life. Watch this space.
Finally a football referee apologises for his mistakes
Finally a football referee apologises for his mistakes

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that referee Mike Riley has contacted the club to apologise for his mistake which led to Wigan losing 2-1 to Chelsea. While Roberto was initially disgusted with Mike Riley, he has now praised the referee for accepting his errors.

Martinez explained, “It is a very honourable way to face mistakes. Mike Riley told me that he understands that with the level of refereeing in this league [officials] should get those calls right.”
He added, “We were unfortunate at the weekend and we’ve had a few bad calls over the season. There are many other clubs that have had them as well. It’s important that we don’t feel too aggrieved; that’s part of the game and we need to accept it.”
Roberto continued, “In many ways the luck is going to level out. This is why the game is such a controversial subject between all of us, because good and bad calls are part of the game. I don’t want to keep talking about those [refereeing errors]. They stopped a positive result for us but it was the performance that allowed us to be in the position where we could get a positive result.”
Wigan Athletic are next in action against Manchester United at the DW Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Paul Scholes to sign new one year contract extension at Manchester United
Paul Scholes to sign new one year contract extension at Manchester United

It has been reported that Manchester United’s 37 year old midfielder Paul Scholes is set to delay his retirement further, by signing a new one year extension at Old Trafford. However, Paul has insisted that he will not come out of international retirement for Euro 2012.

Paul Scholes initially retired at the end of last season but decided to come out of retirement half way through this season and has been inspirational in Manchester United’s title challenge. Paul now looks set to win his eleventh Premier League title, as Manchester United sit eight points clear at the top of the league.
Managers and pundits alike have been full of praise for Paul Scholes since he came out of retirement and he has been rolling back the years with some first class performances. Paul has been so impressive that there have been calls for Scholes to return to the England set up.
Unfortunately, Paul Scholes has admitted that he will not come out of international retirement for England’s Euro 2012 bid, as he does not want to jeopardise his prolonged Manchester United career.
Do you think Paul Scholes is right to continue or should he retire?
Premier League managers losing faith in referees
Premier League managers losing faith in referees

It seems that at this stage of the season, there is always a manager or two who is feeling hard done by. Despite the fact that, when decisions go their way, managers claim it evens things out, at this vital stage of the season the referee is completely to blame. Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes is one of those to voice his disgust, after seeing his side concede a penalty and have a man sent off against Manchester United.

Hughes explained, “You should have confidence that referees will get key decisions right. Just lately a lot of managers have lost faith in them. You worry more about decisions going against you and it shouldn’t be like that.”
He added, “You have to be 100% right to give the decisions. It is a difficult job. You have to be strong and really clear. At the moment people are guessing and hoping that they get it correct. That was the case today.” Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson had sympathy for his former player.
He stated, “Ashley was a yard offside and I understand why Mark is angry. It didn’t help us at all. I was more confident before the man was sent off because the speed of our play and the movement was very good. After that we were just in a comfort zone.”
Manchester City involved in post match bust up?
Manchester City involved in post match bust up?

It has been reported that some of the Manchester City players were involved in a post match dressing room bust up with each other, following the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday. The players were said to be so frustrated with one another that a fight broke out.

However, a spokesman for Manchester City has spoken out against these claims, saying “It is rubbish.” This latest setback for Manchester City has seen their hopes of winning the Premier League title all but vanish, as champions Manchester United opened up an eight point gap at the top of the league.
To make matters worse for Manchester City, controversial Italian striker Mario Balotelli was sent off for a second bookable offence. Mario was already facing a ban, which will now be increased, meaning that Balotelli will miss five of the last six matches of the season.
Recent reports have suggested that Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini will be showing Mario Balotelli the exit door in the summer. However, it is not guaranteed that Roberto will still be the Manchester City manager for next season after the club have seen their hopes of silverware fall apart.

Manchester United’s Paul Scholes compares coaching to the title race

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has revealed how, while he did enjoy his short stint as a coach, it does not compare to the excitement of being involved in a title race. Manchester United are currently five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Scholes explained to MUTV, “The coaching was OK but it wasn’t like playing. I was still coming in every day and seeing players. It was difficult to adjust, I admit that. I really missed the playing side up until Christmas, when I went to see the manager.”
He added, “You would have snatched someone’s hand off for this position a couple of months ago. We have put ourselves in a decent position but there is still a long way to go. We are going up against a very good team in City. They have had a fantastic season and they have a great squad of players that is capable of beating anybody.”
Paul continued, “But with this five-point lead we just have to concentrate on ourselves.” Manchester United take on relegation battling Queens Park Rangers at Old Trafford tomorrow at 13:30. Then, at 16:00, Manchester City face Arsenal at the Emirates.

Sir Alex Ferguson praises David De Gea Manchester United spirit
Sir Alex Ferguson praises David De Gea Manchester United spirit

A few months back, everybody was quick to criticise Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea for every little mistake he made. However, David has proved that he has the Manchester United spirit, by coming back from his mistakes and showing what he is made of, much to the delight of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferguson explained, “He got a grip of the situation. He did not let the mistakes get to him and now he is playing with confidence which is a great factor for any goalkeeper. The area where he has been criticised has been in dealing with aerial balls into the box.”
He added, “That last corner kick Blackburn had at Old Trafford, he should have dealt with that better. He knew that at the time and it is a situation he has addressed. He stood up to the situation; he knew it was a challenge.”
Alex continued, “It took him time to adjust to the different ways of the English game and it showed. But the other night, he produced one or two terrific punches when Fulham put the ball in the box at the start of the second half. We knew he had the ability and this is what we have seen.”
Blackburn vs Manchester United kicks off at 8pm at Ewood Park.
Cristiano Ronaldo to rejoin Manchester United this summer
Cristiano Ronaldo to rejoin Manchester United this summer

Reports in Spain are suggesting that free scoring Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo will be rejoining his former club Manchester United in the summer. Real Madrid currently sit comfortably at the top of La Liga and are expected to progress to the semi final of the Champions League.

It is claimed that, should Real Madrid win both the league and the Champions League, Ronaldo will feel that he has nothing left to achieve at the club. Add to that the fact that Jose Mourinho is set to leave in the summer and the way will be cleared for Ronaldo to leave.
A Real Madrid insider explained, “Cristiano Ronaldo has proved himself as one of the best in the world, competing with Lionel Messi. He now feels that he has nothing left to prove at Real Madrid and wants to return to the best and most competitive league in the world.”
It is believed that Manchester United will be able to buy Cristiano Ronaldo back for a lot less than what they sold him for, due to a clause they had written in when Real Madrid signed him. The news is set to upset a lot of fans.
Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand to join Nicolas Anelka in China?
Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand to join Nicolas Anelka in China?

It has been reported that Manchester United’s English defender Rio Ferdinand could be heading off to China in the summer. It is claimed that Rio will be offered similar wages to former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka, who is on £175,000 a week at Shanghai Shenhua, although they are not believed to be the club interested in Rio.

Rio Ferdinand has been at Manchester United for 11 years and if the club clinch the league title again this season, Rio could feel that it is time to move on. Ferdinand has also admitted that he plans to continue playing for England beyond this year’s European Championships and regular first team football in China could prove a key factor in prolonging his international career.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will be keen to keep the 33 year old, claiming that Rio Ferdinand has become a very influential player in the dressing room.
Fergie explained, “He has taken on that role of the influential person in the dressing room. It’s not easy but the longer they stay here the better the influence spreads to them and they can take over from the older players as they disappear.”
Do you think Rio Ferdinand should leave Manchester United and head to China?
Sir Alex Ferguson delighted with Manchester United’s position
Sir Alex Ferguson delighted with Manchester United’s position

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he is delighted with the position that his team are in at this stage of the season. Sir Alex admitted that his players could be forgiven for thinking that they would never catch Manchester City but their hard work is finally paying off.

Ferguson explained, “We are in the right place, at the right time and, most importantly, with the right players. After weeks trailing in second place, we got our noses in front. I am sure our players are ready to put the pressure on again.”
He added, “Our guys have been flogging away and perhaps wondering if they would ever catch up before we hit the finishing line. Well, we did and they are capable of going in front again. It’s neck and neck now and I’d say it was an ideal time to be up with the leaders with only nine matches to go.”
Manchester United have had their fair share of injury problems this season but they seem to be getting players back at the key stage of the season. Winger Nani and striker Michael Owen are set to return to training this week to give Sir Alex Ferguson more strength in depth.

Is the English Premier League becoming boring?
Is the English Premier League becoming boring?

Now I don’t want to speak out of turn and upset any of the diehard football fans out there but I am slowly becoming a little disillusioned with the English Premier League. Don’t get me wrong, I do still believe that it is the best league in the world but this season has been very uninteresting to a certain degree.

As a neutral football fan, I don’t have a specific team that I follow in the English Premier League, so I like to see a good battle at the top. However, this season has been a two horse race and the title will almost certainly be decided when Manchester United head to Manchester City on April 30.
People could possibly argue that there is a good battle for fourth place but I don’t really believe there is. Arsenal have almost guaranteed third and fourth is between Chelsea and Tottenham. Not exactly a great battle. The you have the relegation battle. Again, nothing exciting. It’s almost a given that Wolves and Wigan will finally get the relegation that they deserve, so the battle will be between Bolton and QPR. Boring!
I honestly believe that if next season does not see the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, possibly even Spurs and Newcastle, closing the gap to Manchester United and Manchester City, then the English Pemier League could quickly become as boring as the Spanish La Liga. Arriba!!
