Django Unchained official movie poster and movie synopsis released

The new Quentin Tarantino movie Django Unchained is set to be released this year and we have now been given the official movie poster for the movie, as well as the official movie synopsis. The Weinstein Company has described Django Unchained as follows:

Set in the South two years before the Civil War, “Django Unchained" stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive.
Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: finding and rescuing Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), the wife he lost to the slave trade long ago.
Django and Schultz’s search ultimately leads them to Calvin Candie (Academy Award®-nominee Leonardo DiCaprio), the proprietor of “Candyland,” an infamous plantation where slaves are groomed by trainer Ace Woody (Kurt Russell) to battle each other for sport. Exploring the compound under false pretenses, Django and Schultz arouse the suspicion of Stephen (Academy Award®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson), Candie’s trusted house slave. Their moves are marked, and a treacherous organization closes in on them. If Django and Schultz are to escape with Broomhilda, they must choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival…
Written and directed by Academy Award®-winner Quentin Tarantino, DJANGO UNCHAINED is produced by Stacey Sher, Pilar Savone and Reginald Hudlin. The executive producers are Harvey and Bob Weinstein, Michael Shamberg, Shannon McIntosh, and James Skotchdopole. DJANGO UNCHAINED will be released in the U.S. on December 25, 2012, and internationally by Sony Pictures Releasing International.
Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L Jackson, Kerry Washington, Sacha Baron Cohen and Kurt Russell. It is due to be released on December 25.
The Dark Knight Rises could have starred Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jessica Biel
The Dark Knight Rises could have starred Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jessica Biel

The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released later this year, bringing an end to the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy and there are some big names in the movie. However, there could have been some different names on the cast list, equally as big, if not bigger.

As always, a lot of people audition for roles in movies, especially for a movie as big as The Dark Knight Rises and it seems that we could have had a completely different cast. While Christian Bale was always set to return as Batman, there are a few new characters set to appear.
Juno Temple will be starring in The Dark Knight Rises as Holly Robinson, a role which could have gone to The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence. Then there is Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is playing John Blake, a role which Leonardo DiCaprio also auditioned for.
Finally there is the role of Catwoman, who is being played in The Dark Knight Rises by Anne Hathaway but there was a chance of Jessica Biel getting the role. However, Christopher Nolan rarely gets anything wrong with his Batman movies and we are sure the people he chose for The Dark Knight Rises will be perfect.
The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released on July 20. Who would you like to have seen in what Batman role?
Kate Winslet discusses Titanic 3D release
Kate Winslet discusses Titanic 3D release

English actress Kate Winslet has revealed how she was petrified at the thought of seeing herself back on the big screen in the 1997 Titanic. Kate admitted that she believed that her acting back then was not at the level it is now and was also shocked at how young and skinny Leonardo DiCaprio was.

Winslet explained, “I was literally like, ‘Oh my god, make it stop! Is that me? Oh my god, that’s me. Block my ears, somebody! Somebody club out my senses. Make it stop! And Leo looks so young and so skinny! I’m sure I wasn’t really a very good actress. Seriously, we are talking about something that happened 15 years ago. It is a very long time ago. I’ve learned so much, and I’ve changed as a person so much since then. It is really quite weird.”
Kate also admitted that her children, 11 year old Mia and 8 year old Joe are not exactly all that interested in the fact that their mother is a Hollywood movie star. She added, “They’re actually really not interested. But they are intrigued, I think, would be fair to say.” Kate Winslet is set to star in the Kenneth Branagh movie The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, which is released next year.

Naomi Watts praises Clint Eastwood
Naomi Watts praises Clint Eastwood

Australian actress Naomi Watts has revealed that, although the movie was made on quite a low budget, she could not turn down the chance to work with director Clint Eastwood on the movie J. Edgar. Naomi admitted that she is a huge fan of Clint’s work and that she might not ever get a chance to work with such a great director.

Watts explained, “The fact that it was small, yeah sure, it has its downside but I just really wanted to work with Clint. He’s getting on [aged 81] and while he seems to have tons of energy and so much more to do, I still wanted to make sure I didn’t miss out on that opportunity. He was as good as I hoped he’d be, if not better.”
She added, ”I was sort of in shock the first day, my head was spinning and I was thinking, ‘How am I going to work this fast?’ The first scene I shot, he didn’t even say ‘action’ and I thought it was a rehearsal but suddenly we’re cutting and moving on, so I didn’t have a chance to even be nervous. ‘It took me a week and a half to work up the courage to ask for another take and when I did, he said, ‘Of course!”’ J. Edgar also stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Armie Hammer and was released in the UK last week.
Carey Mulligan cried at getting The Great Gatsby role
Carey Mulligan cried at getting The Great Gatsby role

English actress Carey Mulligan has revealed how she burst in to tears when she learnt that she had won the role of Daisy in the Baz Luhrmann movie The Great Gatsby. Carey received the news from Baz himself via a phone call and she claims that there is a photograph of her reaction, as somebody took a snap of her while she was crying.

Mulligan explained, “There’s a photograph actually of it because there was this event. I was introducing Karl Lagerfeld at this event in New York and it was after that and his wife was there and she passed me the phone. I answered and he said “Hello Daisy” and I burst into tears. So there’s a photograph that someone snapped as they walked past, of me crying into a napkin. So I cried, yeah.”
She added, “Then I went to my friends house and we had a big dance party until 4 in the morning and then I got on a plane back to New York and filmed my last day on Drive, which was a struggle.” Carey Mulligan stars alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in The Great Gatsby, which is set to be released on December 25, 2012.
Carey Mulligan reveals her acting obsession
Carey Mulligan reveals her acting obsession

Hollywood actress Carey Mulligan has revealed how she has been obsessed with acting from a very young age and she was determined to make it to Hollywood. However, Carey was not short of her knock backs, as she was rejected from one drama school after another, before taking a different route into the acting world.

Mulligan explained, “I went to boarding school when I was 14. I was a drama geek; I never fell into acting. I was obsessed with acting from a really young age. I just wanted to be in musicals and I wore a Les Misérables T-shirt for, like, four years, well into my teens. Applying to drama schools was the most rebellious thing I’ve ever done. I applied to drama school instead of university and got rejected from every one. And Drama Centre London told me to be a children’s TV show presenter.”
Carey admitted that her auditions for the drama schools may have been what let her down. She added, “I did Psychosis 448, a monologue about someone who is about to commit suicide, as my audition speech. So there’s this incredibly well-adjusted, happy person coming from boarding school and I’m miming slitting my wrists on stage. They were like, ‘Go home! Or at least experience something other than boarding school’. So that’s what I did.” Carey Mulligan is set to appear alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie The Great Gatsby.
Leonardo DiCaprio discusses Armie Hammer kiss in J. Edgar
Leonardo DiCaprio discusses Armie Hammer kiss in J. Edgar

J. Edgar actor Leonardo DiCaprio has discussed the moment when he had to share an on screen kiss with his co star Armie Hammer. The was a lot of speculation about the relationship between J. Edgar Hoover and his protégé Clyde Tolson and Clint Eastwood decided that the two actors would have to address the issue with an on screen kiss.

Leonardo explained, “They ate lunch and dinner together every day, went on vacations together. Whether they were together in any other respect, well, no-one living knows the truth. In the film, it’s seen as almost an unrequited love, but a lasting one, nonetheless. These kisses are the things we do as actors - I was in character. Clint was very clear, saying, ‘I want you guys to beat each other up first, I want as much blood as possible, and I want you to grab each other as if you want to kill each other, and then it will happen’.”
He added, “He was very adamant about the fact these men were of a certain time period and no matter what they felt it wasn’t something they wanted to express. There was so much bottled up with their emotions for one another, it resulted in two men going fisticuffs first. It was terrific to breathe life into this person, because he was such a mystery. From a character aspect, he was just a great grab bag of different eccentricities. You name it, this guy had it.”
DiCaprio concluded, “We tried to give hints, from his obsession with cleanliness, to his stuttering, issues with his mother, questionable sexuality, the repressed lifestyle, obsession with communism and ambition for personal glory.” J. Edgar is currently playing in US cinemas and is released in the UK on January 20.
Leonardo DiCaprio set for Oscar glory?
Leonardo DiCaprio set for Oscar glory?

J. Edgar actor Leonardo DiCaprio has been receiving a lot of hype for his performance is his latest movie J. Edgar, with many people tipping Leonardo to win his first Oscar for the role. Leo has admitted that he would love to win the Oscar but admitted that everybody would love to win an Oscar but it is simply not down to them.

DiCaprio explained, “I don’t think anyone would say that they wouldn’t want one. I think they would be lying. I have learned from my experiences in this industry that there is absolutely no way to control people’s opinions on your performance in your movie. You go out there, promote your film and hope people like the work you did.”
He added, “But they’re going to respond the way they’re going to respond when they’re in a room with that ballot. I’m thankful people are talking about it in that capacity, but ultimately I truly have no control over it. The ageing was difficult, that was a huge challenge. It’s a constant adrenaline rush every day, you have so much pressure and stuff to accomplish.” J. Edgar is set to be released in the UK on January 20.
Armie Hammer praises J. Edgar make up
Armie Hammer praises J. Edgar make up

Social Network actor Armie Hammer has revealed how impressed he was with J. Edgar director Clint Eastwood and the make up team, who opted for old school prosthetic make up rather than going with CGI. Armie claims that he feels honoured to have been a part of it, as he does not believe that many people will get to have that experience in the future.

Hammer explained, “The make-up, for what it was, was incredible. It was prosthetic make-up, done in the way you would have done that make-up 50 years ago. It’s a throwback. It’s nostalgic. No one does make-up like that anymore because it doesn’t look the best, because it’s not the cheapest and it’s not the fastest. Clint Eastwood, could have done it in CGI, and any other director immediately would have done it in CGI because it would have been easier, cheaper, the whole thing.”
He added, “Clint’s people and the people who did it are the very best at what they do. But it’s an old way of doing make-up. I don’t think many actors will get the chance to do that ever again. The fact that I even got a chance to participate in something like that was awesome.” As well as Armie Hammer, J. Edgar also stars Leonardo DiCaprio and is set to be released in the UK on January 20.
