Justin Bieber’s latest album ‘Believe’ debuted at number one on the charts last week after selling a staggering 374,00 copies. The album is said to be the biggest first-week sales number for any album so far this year.
When asked about the decision to call his album ‘believe’, Justin explained: “For me it is an inspiring word and you know it’s hopefully going to inspire a lot of people, whether it is believing in yourself, believing in your dreams… I think it will give people a positive outlook.”
The teenager says it’s really special for him because he wrote it for his fans: “My fans have really inspired me and they’ve kind of helped me get there a lot,” he says. “So I kind of want to write about how they’ve gotten me through this journey.”
Justin now looks to legends like Michael Jackson and the Beatles for inspiration: “They are definitely artists I wanted to incorporate in my music,” he says.
“I studied different people and worked with people I love,” he said of his collaboration with artists such as Kanye West and Drake.
But Justin says that it was collaborating with Nicki Minaj that was really special: “I think it’s going to be a really big song, and people are going to really like it.”
Justin also discussed new singing sensation Carly Rae Kepsen, saying: “I found her on the radio in Canada. I was listening to her song ‘Call me maybe’, and every station kept playing it. The song is so catchy, and I was like why haven’t I heard this before? My manager found that she’d not been signed up yet outside of Canada. So we ended up signing her and pushing the song everywhere. It’s like the No. 1 song in the world now!”
So, what’s Justin’s next dream? “The next dream I’d like to achieve is maybe win some Grammys,” says Justin. “I still haven’t won a Grammy but I am looking forward to it!”
Justin Bieber cut short a pre-taped interview with US radio show Mojo after the host compared him to Justin Timberlake and quizzed him about a potential romance between his mother and One Direction's Harry Styles.
Thomas Carballo, the host of the show, was in the middle of a phone chat with the pop star when Bieber took offence at his line of questioning and hung up the phone.
The 10-minute interview got off to a bad start when Carballo told his guest he thought he was Timberlake the first time he heard him. Justin seemed to take offence to this, saying: “That’s funny because our voices sound nothing alike… Saying I sound like somebody else is definitely not a compliment.”
The singer then appeared to lighten up when talking about his new song Maria, which was inspired by the woman who falsely claimed Justin was the father of her baby last year, but he lost his cool when host Carballo got personal and asked if he was worried about his One Direction pal Harry Styles falling for his mum.
The DJ said: “Do you worry about Harry around your mum, since he likes older women?”
Clearly annoyed by this, Justin then mumbled something about Carballo’s mother and, as the radio presenter explained his mum was dead, the pop star hung up the phone.
A record company representative then tried to convince the DJ that the singer’s phone had cut off, explaining: “I can’t get him. He’s in a really s**tty area.” She later revealed Bieber was “upset” with the questions, adding: “He probably won’t be calling back.”
Harry Styles hit the headlines recently when reports suggested the 18-year-old had had an affair with British radio DJ Lucy Horobin last year, after they met at a radio station where the 32-year-old worked in Manchester, England.
Carly Rae Jepsen and Scooter Braun, founder of her imprint Schoolboy Records, are basking in the success of her bouncy Interscope Records single “Call Me Maybe”, which flew to the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
“I feel so blessed,” the singer said upon learning that the song had dethroned Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know,” featuring Kimbra, after an eight-week domination. “Thank you to everyone who made this happen. Life keeps surprising me lately and it’s a wonderful feeling.”
Scooter likewise shared his elation over the chart-topping news: “To see Carly hit No. 1 is an amazing achievement, but what is even better is seeing it happen to someone as kind and as warm a person as Carly Rae Jepsen,” he says. “No one is more deserving. And, I know from hearing her music that this is just the beginning for her.”
“Call” was actually Carly’s first hit in her home country of Canada, which went to No. 1 for four weeks on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 beginning in February. After fellow Canadian Justin Bieber Tweeted his affinity for the song to his more than 20 million Twitter followers, and produced a video in which he, Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale sang it, the U.S. success of “Call” surged.
Carly, like Justin Bieber, is signed to Braun’s Schoolboy imprint. Scooter also manages rookie British/Irish boy band The Wanted. Ironically, given his support, Carly reached the Hot 100 apex before Justin. While Justin has placed 25 songs on the chart dating to his arrival in 2009, he’s so far peaked as high as No. 2 with “Boyfriend.”
Carly is set to open forJustin for 47 dates on his North American “Believe” tour, which begins Sept. 29 in Glendale, Ariz., and runs through to Jan. 26, 2013, in Miami. Carly’s as-yet-untitled debut U.S. album is due for release this fall.
Katy Perry was really “excited” to catch up with her pals Justin Bieber and Jessie J in London this weekend.
The stars were out in force, but too many cocktails got the better of the I Kissed A Girl singer, who allegedly fell over in the nightclub after drinking a little more than she could handle.
Katy performed at the Capital FM Summertime Ball alongside the likes of Usher, The Wanted, Coldplay, Justin Bieber and Jessie J.
And afterwards Katy was keen to hit the town at Cirque du Soir for a few drinks with Jessie J, Justin Bieber and her rumoured boyfriend, Florence and The Machine guitarist, Robert Ackroyd.
Katy partied until 5 in the morning, and was reportedly spotted with bottles of vodka, champagne and an array of cocktails on her table, but the star had more than she could handle.
A source told The Daily Mirror: “Katy was in high spirits and very excited that Justin was there, as she loves Justin. And she’s good friends with Jessie, so they had a catch-up. Before long Katy had sunk a fair few vodka cocktails. She had big bottles of Ciroc and Belvedere on her table.”
They also added: “By 5am she seemed to be having some difficulty walking and suddenly fell to the floor. She was down for a while and it took a couple of her mates to get her up. Everyone was staring and there was quite a commotion.”
Selena Gomez is already the envy of girls everywhere; she is gorgeous, rich, famous, and has the one and only Justin Bieber as her boyfriend.
Selena has revealed that she was left stunned when her romantic singer beau, Justin, hired an entire arena for a private screening of Titanic, simply because she had suggested that they should watch the classic together.
The Baby hitmaker secured the exclusive use of the 20,000 seat capacity Staples Center in Los Angeles back in September 2011, so that he and his girlfriend could watch the James Cameron film undisturbed; a gesture which Selena was overwhelmed by.
In an interview with Elle magazine, she said: “If I’ll share anything with you, it’s that he really is a hopeless romantic. I had just mentioned it in the car - all I said is that I really want to see Titanic again, and then (that happened).”
Justin was recently left confused by British humour after filming an interview for Alan Carr’s chat show. After discussing the Jubilee Alan asked the 18-year-old if Americans are as obsessed with Pippa Middleton's bum as the British, to which Justin replied: “I don't have a clue as to what's been going on for the past 20 minutes. I'm from Canada. I don't get all this humour. I don't know if you're making fun of me? I just don't get the British humour.”
The host assured his bewildered guest that he was just “taking the mickey”, to which the star answered “Mickey, what’s mickey?”
If Justin Bieber had done half the things he’s alleged to have done then his squeaky clean image really would be in some state of disrepair.
As if being accused of illegitimately fathering a child when aged just 16 wasn’t awkward enough, the teenage pop sensation now has allegations of criminal battery to contend with.
Website Tmz.com reports that a photographer in Calabasas, Los Angeles, is pursuing the Boyfriend singer after a supposed altercation between them at a mall in the area. Tmz claims that the paparazzo had parked his car to block Justin’s and when he then refused to move for the singer a scuffle ensued.
Justin was with his girlfriend, singer and actress Selena Gomez, at the time of the alleged altercation. Apparently a lawyer spoke to the photographer after the couple had left the scene and told him that he could make a substantial amount of money out of the situation, causing the photographer to call an ambulance and file a police report. The police are now looking to question Bieber over the incident.
We strongly suspect that, in light of the ease at which Justin’s team fought off 20 year-old Mariah Yeater’s claims last year that he was the father of her son, nothing will come of this. However, it seems that attempts to derail the young star’s image are starting to become the norm.
The rumours continue to circulate that Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have split.
Justin Bieber won the award for Top Social Artist at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards Sunday night, but when he took to the stage to give a somewhat rambling speech, in which he thanks his fans, Usher, his parents and God, but no mention of girlfriend Selena Gomez.
Selena was noticeably absent from the awards show, which is quite the contrast to last years event, when she passionately kissed him on the air, which sent Bieber fans into an absolute frenzy on the internet.
The break-up rumors have been swirling after a tweet picture made its way onto the internet, reportedly showing Justin tweeting, “thank you for the time i had with you but i have to move on.”
However, Justin’s camp staunchly denied that that tweet ever appeared on his account. Meanwhile, Selena was spotted partying with a popular Bulgarian singer in a Sofia nightclub on Friday. According to a report from Novinite, Poli Genova has been a favorite of the Love You Like A Love Song singer since he first wowed fans in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Duesseldorf. Poli and his band LaTiDa performed Friday night at Sofia’s Yalta Club and shared their new song, Pants Only.
Singer Justin Bieber has fiercely leapt to the defense of his pal Kim Kardashian after his entourage poked fun at the reality stars career.
The 18-year-old, who sparked controversy with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star by posing in a sexy shoot together, was forced to defend the reality star after one of his entourage says the “bitch should never wear white in public again.”
In the June issue of GQ, the teen heartthrob told his tour manager, Allison Kaye: “You guys are so mean, bro. People say she doesn’t do anything; she actually does do stuff. She works hard.”
Justin, who is dating actress and singer Selena Gomez, is still under 21, and therefore is not lawfully able to drink in the US - but the ‘Baby’ singer admits to having a few beers: “For me, it’s just like, I like to be in control of myself. I mean, I’ve had a beer, like, before… But I never get out of control,” he explains.
“I mean, I keep my guard up a lot, because you know, you can’t trust anyone in this business,” Justin continued. “That’s what’s sad. You can’t trust anybody. I learned the hard way.”
It was only fitting that ‘Saturday Night Live’s’ 100th digital milestone was perhaps its most overblown and star-packed celebration to date, with stars including Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Usher and Natalie Portman all involved in the three and a half minute song.
The song saw the celebrities and regular cast members Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone come together in a song themed about a rather gymnastically impressive form of self-fellatio.
At the centre of the skit initially was teen pop sensation Justin Bieber, reports The Los Angeles Times, who appeared in a tuxedo with the regulars looking, as ever, squeaky clean. However, as the subject matter turned rude, the 18 year-old pop star looked horrified and took back stage to a plethora of other stars more than happy to tackle the adult theme.
The highlight of the performers was Natalie Portman, who put in a genuinely laugh out loud cameo as a rapper insisting she was still as bad as ever despite giving birth - at one point throwing her fake baby over the top of a roof.
Usher meanwhile turned up very briefly to say “I’ve never been in a Digital Clip before but these white guys sure like d***,” before show host Will Ferrell finished the whole thing towards the end. All in all, a suitably jam-packed skit to celebrate the 100 coming up.
Justin Bieber turned up to collect an award at the Tribeca Film Festival with a ring on his engagement finger, causing speculation that he has taken his romance with Selena Gomez to the next level.
Teen heatthrob Justin and his manager, Scooter Braun, were handed the award for Disruptive Innovation.
During the presentation Bieber thanked Scooter for helping him achieve his goals, but Scooter jumped into manager mode once he realised the young singer was wearing a ring on his wedding finger, causing him to defuse rumours before they start.
Scooter joked: “I just realised that he’s wearing a ring on his ring finger. So after we leave here he’s not engaged, he’s not married, but I’m going to have to deal with that later.”
Justin claimed he didn’t realise, and appologised, saying: “Didn’t even realise that, sorry guys. That’s not what I was going for, a long time coming guys. Why didn’t anyone tell me?” Justin then moved the ring to his other hand, to stop and ongoing speculation.
The Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards are handed out to individuals who use technology in non-traditional ways in everything from the arts to the sciences.
The Wanted have revealed that they WILL be collaborating with both Justin Bieber and Chris Brown, and they have even revealed that they have ‘perfect’ songs lined up for them both!
The band released their ‘Chasing The Sun’ video yesterday, causing fans to start yet another Twitter frenzy, with the group’s video trending within minutes.
The Wanted said that they approached Chris Brown ahead of their recent performance on the US version of The Voice, and apparently the rapper insisted that he was ‘down’ with the idea.
Speaking about their future duet with superstar Justin Bieber, Jay McGuiness told MTV: “He was really nice. A really, really nice guy. We talked about it, and we have a song that we think he’d sound great on.”
Siva Kaneswaran added: “We’ve talked to Chris Brown as well, which would be really good. We talked to Chris actually at The Voice, and he said he was down as well.”
Tom Parker continued: “It’s all up for discussion. You never know,” before Max George admitted: “We have got a song we think would be perfect.”
The Wanted are huge fans of Chris Brown, describing him as a ‘gentleman’ before revealing that the track would be recorded in the next couple of months.
