Taylor Kitsch loves working with Battleship director Peter Berg

John Carter actor Taylor Kitsch has revealed how he loves working with his Battleship director Peter Berg, as the two have become very close. Taylor claims that he and Peter are good friends and have a great trust in each other, which can only be good for the movies that they work on.

Kitsch explained, “I love working with him as it is very empowering as an actor. We are friends first and foremost and so what comes with that is a lot of trust, and that is everything on every set whether it is Oliver Stone, Andrew Stanton or Pete Berg.”

He added, “And I needed to trust him a little more on this film because a lot is put in in post production and you are make believing a lot more. Also who we are as people we like to push the envelope and we push each other through that process which is great.”

Battleship is not the first time that Taylor Kitsch and Peter Berg have worked together and it is highly unlikely that it will be the last. Taylor and Peter previously worked together on the television series Friday Night Lights before teaming up again for Battleship.

Taylor Kitsch discusses his acting future
Taylor Kitsch discusses his acting future

Battleship actor Taylor Kitsch has taken the fact that he was the lead star in the big budget flop John Carter very well. In fact Taylor has admitted that it was just one of his many risky roles and he does not intend to change the way he approaches his art.

Kitsch explained, “I want to keep working with the best, keep going and be a better actor each time I go and dive into something. I want to be scared. I want to keep taking insane risks. I want to be scared because you’re going to grow through that whether you want to or not. I don’t want to play the same guy. I want to keep throwing curveballs to you guys and keep telling stories.”

Taylor Kitsch then went on to reveal what he likes to do in his spare time, when he is not working, admitting that, when you are working, you are very much out of the loop with the real world.

He added, “When I’m not acting, I try to be normal, play golf, play hockey. It’s funny because you’re in this little bubble when you’re working - you don’t read books, you don’t really keep up with the news, you’re just living that life. When you get out, you just kind of reacquaint yourselves with family and friends. You try and forget and just try and remember what reality feels like.”

John Carter actress Lynn Collins is one of the few women that has been linked to the possible lead role in a potential Wonder Woman movie and she has been discussing the rumours. Lynn has admitted that she often gets asked about playing Wonder Woman, despite the fact that a movie is not even in the making yet.

Collins explained, “That’s so interesting, everybody’s been saying that, yeah. I don’t know how I even feel about that. I will say that Linda Carter was awesome, is awesome and following in her footsteps would be a mighty process for sure.”

Lynn then went on to reveal what she thinks would have to change if she was to get the role of Wonder Woman. She added, “More skimpy costumes, more trainers and gyms and broccoli.”

Lynn Collins is not the only person to have been linked to the role of Wonder Woman. Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn has admitted that he would love to direct a Wonder Woman movie and he would love to cast Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks as the superhero.

Taylor Kitsch discusses diet and fitness regime

John Carter actor Taylor Kitsch has revealed how it was not easy for him to get into the best physical shape of his life for his role in the movie. Taylor claims that it was very hard work, eating more than usual and having the discipline to keep up with the training.

Kitsch explained, “It’s a challenge, put it that way. It’s more of a marathon to keep it that way, which is very tough, especially when you’re working as well. It’s not like I was just working out and resting.”

He added, “It’s just discipline, even more of it. I worked out at 4:30 in the morning before work, surrounded every meal with protein, taking in twice as much food and then the discipline truly comes with the training, but more with just the diet.”

However, despite the toughness of getting into shape and maintain that physique, Taylor Kitsch admits that he would love to be involved in any possible John Carter sequel and is hopeful that it will happen. He stated, “I hope to do another one!”

The Bang Bang Club actor Taylor Kitsch is set to have the biggest year in his acting history, as he hits the big screen in two big budget movies this year, Battleship and John Carter. Taylor has revealed to Just Jared exactly how his role in John Carter came about.

Kitsch explained, “I just got a call from my manager and she asked if I would take a general meeting with [director] Andrew Stanton, so it wasn’t a question. It was basically a meeting just to get to know one another, just because it’s a three picture deal, hopefully. They were saying before that this could possibly be a 10-year job.”

He added, “I had the meeting and it was amazing. I walked out of that meeting ready to do anything to get that role, and then that process came in to play. I did cold reads and then I earned the screen test and did two 14-hour days in wardrobe and everything.”

Taylor Kitsch can be seen starring alongside Samantha Morton, Willem Dafoe and Ciaran Hinds in the big budget movie John Carter, which is set to be released in both the US and the UK on March 9, 2012.

Willem Dafoe reveals John Carter fun
Willem Dafoe reveals John Carter fun

Platoon actor Willem Dafoe is set to appear in the big budget Andrew Stanton directed movie John Carter, which is released this week and he has been discussing some of the fun he had on the movie. Willem revealed his love for the stilts that he had to use on the movie and also admitted that he enjoyed the newness of the character.

Dafoe explained, “Maybe I had been on stilts before but not these kind of stilts. It’s part of the fun. They are all tools if you embrace them as opportunities. The truth is, I, in a very easy way, found out what it was like to be nine feet tall. That was a new experience for me. You can kiss those stilts, because they’re a gift they gave you.”

He added, “You take that newness, and you invest the energy into the character. One of the great things about the language, I’m not fluent in Thark, but I can get by, is that it gave me a voice, a register and a cadence for the character. So you try and embrace these aspects of the performance and see them as opportunities instead of considering them hindrances.” Willem Dafoe is set to appear alongside Taylor Kitsch in the movie John Carter, which is released on March 9.

Taylor Kitsch reveals John Carter groin scars

John Carter actor Taylor Kitsch has revealed how he has some lasting scars from filming his latest movie John Carter, including one rather nasty one on his groin. Taylor claims that the reason for his scarring to the groin is because he was constantly thrown around in a harness, which cut into his thighs and groin.

Kitsch explained, “I’ve got the groin scars to prove it. To say the least it was insane… It was like you open that trailer door at seven in the morning to get your day started and the first thing you see is that harness staring back at you. Nothing puts you more in the moment than being tugged f**king 80 miles an hour up and then [dumped] into free fall for three or four seconds”.

He added, “I just remember one day, I literally was so exhausted, I couldn’t walk to set and it was probably a hundred yards away. It was up a small hill, and I couldn’t walk up there, and I had to get a little cart to take me up there” You can catch Taylor Kitsch starring in the big budget John Carter movie when it is released in both the US and the UK on March 9.

Taylor Kitsch discusses the state of US childhood obesity

The Bang Bang Club actor Taylor Kitsch has revealed how, if he had not made it as a movie star, he would have been a nutritionist and would have focussed on the health of children. Taylor has slammed the state of childhood obesity in the US claiming that it has gone beyond a joke now and something needs to be done about it.

Kitsch explained, “We’re in the worst state we’ve ever been in, in terms of obesity in kids, adult early onset diabetes, and so on. Especially in the States. It’s a f**king joke. I’m more worried about the kids, the younger generation. That’s who I would focus on.” Taylor then went on to discuss when he once lost 35 pounds for a role in the movie The Bang Bang Club.

He added, “That was f**king stupid and there’s not a lot of actors who will do that. It’s just way too extreme, and being a nutritionist I found it hard. Everything I knew just went out the window. The way I worked, it changed my walk, my confidence, everything. I was very bipolar. My mood swings were f**king insane. I was very emotional, I had night terrors, I couldn’t sleep. It was a zoo.” Taylor Kitsch can next be seen on the big screen in the movie John Carter, which is released on March 9.
