Scarlett Johansson discusses The Avengers beating

There has been a lot said about the upcoming Marvel movie The Avengers and we have seen a lot of clips and trailers. One of the clips shows Scarlett Johansson in a fight sequence and it appears that one of the fight sequences from The Avengers really took its toll on the actress.

Johansson explained to MTV News, “The stunt sequence that I’ve been the most proud of is probably my fight with… Actually, I don’t know if I can say! Can I say? I don’t know if I can. All I can say is that I had to fight someone else in this film, and they beat the crap out of me in stunt rehearsals. I have to say I could not believe it.”

She added, “I was like, ‘Can you hold it back, OK? You know, I’m trying to work it out here. I’ve got smaller muscles than you.’ I was dragged across the [floor]. When we finally finished [filming] that scene I was just happy to be alive.”

Scarlett continued, “We all took a pretty big beating. I would have to say either [Black] Widow or Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner). We’re on the ground so we’re fighting hand-to-hand and it hurts.”

The Avengers is set to be released on April 26 in the UK and May 4 in the US.

Joss Whedon reveals The Avengers shut down

The Avengers director Joss Whedon has revealed how the movie had to come to a bit of a standstill, after actor Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the movie, had an accident while performing a stunt.

Whedon explained to The Hollywood Reporter, “He’s an amazing fighter - his fight work is wonderful: precise, heroic, and you seldom have to double him. But one day, he just turned wrong and his whole body shut down.”

He added, “He could not do anything. He was in enormous pain, and we had to shut that sequence down and shoot it a couple of weeks later.” Jeremy Renner himself then went on admit that it was not only the physical stunts which he had some difficulties with.

Jeremy revealed, “I had to wrestle this stuffed-animal version of a wolf. I had to animate the wolf, and it took all this extra effort, and it’s like a street fight, just wrestling around in the snow with this stuffed animal slapping me in the face.”

Renner continued, “[For another scene], I had to degrade to near death in the movie, where I had to shake for many minutes, and it looks like it’s nothing, but when it’s over I was more sore than I was the entire shoot.” The Avengers is released in the UK on April 26 and the US on May 4.

She added, “Someone is having a wig removed. We all had our various things that we have to do to get comfortable. Everybody looked incredibly uncomfortable until the cameras are rolling. Then ‘Cut!’ and we’re all like, ‘Arrrgh… God, this thing, get it off me, it’s awful’.”

The Avengers director Joss Whedon talks The Avengers 2

The Avengers is just over a month away from hitting the big screen and director Joss Whedon has revealed how he feels that The Avengers 2 could top the forthcoming movie. Joss claims that the best way that The Avengers sequel could top The Avengers, is by not trying to.

Whedon explained, “By not trying to. By being smaller. More personal, more painful. By being the next thing that should happen to these characters, and not just a rehash of what seemed to work the first time. By having a theme that is completely fresh and organic to itself.”

Joss then suggested that The Godfather II could be a good template to follow. He added, “By having flashbacks to young Michael Andolini escaping Sicily to come to New York, where he will be called Corleone. Sequels are always better when that happens.”

The Avengers is set to star Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L Jackson and is set to be released in the UK on April 27 and the US on May 4.
