Simon Pegg reveals J.J. Abrams Star Trek 2 influence
Simon Pegg reveals J.J. Abrams Star Trek 2 influence

Star Trek actor Simon Pegg, who will be reprising his role as Scotty in the J.J. Abrams directed sequel Star Trek 2, has been talking about what fans can expect from the second instalment of the Star Trek reboot. Simon also admitted that he takes a lot of influence in his acting from J.J. Abrams.

Pegg explained, “It’s all about space. It’s about the final frontier. And the one before it. I know it’s boring, but one thing J.J installed in all of us is the importance of giving the audience everything they can get from the experience itself.”

Earlier this year there was outrage among the Star Trek 2 cast and crew as a picture from the set of the movie was leaked online. This infuriated J.J. Abrams and it was revealed by Star Trek actor Zachary Quinto that some of the cast were worried about the repercussions of the leaked photo.

Star Trek 2 producer Alex Kurtzman recently discussed the potential plot of the Star Trek sequel, claiming that everything is far from rosy between the Star Trek characters. Star Trek 2 is currently expected to be released on May 17, 2013.

Alex Kurtzman teases Star Trek 2 plot

Star Trek 2 producer Alex Kurtzman has given fans a little tease of what to expect from the sequel to the 2009 movie. Alex claims that, while the characters in Star Trek did manage to sort a few of their issues with each other out, there are still a few more bumps in the road to come.

Kurtzman explained to Movieweb, “Without spoiling anything, the challenge is that you don’t want to jump too far ahead and assume that just because they got together they’re all comfortable with each other. They’re still all working out their kinks and still becoming the bridge crew that we remember from the series.”

He added, “That’s still very much alive and look, any good sequel is about the challenge that the group faces in order to become the unified team and I think that that challenge in this movie is going to be hopefully amazing.”

Star Trek 2 is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban and John Cho. Star Trek 2 is set to be released on May 17, 2013.
Lost prequel set to hit the TV screen
Lost prequel set to hit the TV screen

It seems that with prequels, sequels, remakes and reboots becoming all the rage on the big screen, the small screen are looking to get in on the action. A prequel to the hit television series Sex and the City is already being made and now it seems that a Lost prequel is set to be made.

So far the details are not entirely clear but it is believed that the Lost prequel will be focussing on the Dharma Initiative and their time on the island. So far, people have been referring to the Lost prequel as, Lost: The Dharma Initiative. Original right?

The series is said to start with the Dharma Initiative being thought up and as the series develops, the Dharma Initiative develops with it. It is not yet known whether J.J. Abrams, Jeffrey Lieber or Damon Lindelof will be involved and it is unlikely that any of the original Lost cast will star in the show.

Casting for Lost: The Dharma Initiative is set to get underway later this month, with filming due to begin this summer. The show has yet to be picked up by a Network, so only a pilot episode will be made for now, with the view to a full season being picked up.

Zoe Saldana discusses stylist difficulties
Zoe Saldana discusses stylist difficulties

Avatar actress Zoe Saldana has revealed how she spent many years looking for the perfect stylist for her but found it very difficult. That was before she met Petra Flannery, who is ranked as one of the top stylists in Hollywood, and has been Zoe’s stylist ever since.

Saldana explained to People, “I think it took me years. I would meet with [different stylists] and work with some of them, and I just never really understood until I found the synchronicity that I was looking for… As soon as Petra and I met, we had such an amazing chemistry.”

She added, “[Stylists] are such an important element to the composition of an artist’s image.” Zoe Saldana is one of a long list of celebrity clients for Petra Flannery, whose other clients include Emma Stone, Megan Fox, Mila Kunis, Faith Hill and Claire Danes.

It was recently revealed that Zoe Saldana would be appearing alongside Megan Fox in the movie Swindle. Zoe Saldana is also set to appear alongside Christian Bale in the movie Out of the Furnace and is currently filming the sequel to the J.J. Abrams movie Star Trek.
Drew Goddard talks Cloverfield 2
Drew Goddard talks Cloverfield 2

Drew Goddard, who was one of the key people involved in bringing the movie Cloverfield to the big screen, has revealed how he is very keen on being involved in a Cloverfield sequel. However, Drew admitted that it is difficult to get all of the relevant people in the same room at the same time.

Goddard explained, “I hope so. I mean, I’d like it to. Cloverfield was very much a dialogue between J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves and me. And you need those three parts. It’s just been hard because we’ve been busy. None of us wants to make a movie just for the sake of making a sequel. That’s just not interesting to us. I think we all have ideas of what we want to do, and they’re probably all different. But we need to sit down and get it together. I blame Star Trek.”

He then addressed whether the sequel would take on the same style as the original Cloverfield movie.

Drew added, I don’t know. If you’d asked me a year ago I would have said absolutely because I thought that was inherent to it. The thing about Cloverfield that was exciting was that it felt different, and we’d need to find whatever that is. We’d make it feel fresh and new, and if you asked each of us how we were going to do it we’d each have a different answer.”

He continued, “I’m in, I’m ready to do it. Someone call J.J. and tell him to get moving, but because Matt and J.J. and I have been fortunate enough to be busy, it’s hard syncing our schedules up. We’re all very passionate about returning to that world.”

So there you have it. Cloverfield 2 is definitely on the radar for Drew Goddard but it is just a case of getting everybody else in the same room. With Star Trek 2 not due out until next year, we could have to wait until 2015 to see a Cloverfield sequel.
Benedict Cumberbatch talks The Hobbit role
Benedict Cumberbatch talks The Hobbit role

Benedict Cumberbatch is set to be involved in some very big movies over the next couple of years, with a role in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek sequel, as well as playing Smaug and The Necromancer in the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings prequel, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Benedict has been talking about his role in The Hobbit and what a joy it was to work on the movie.

Cumberbatch explained, “I was very lucky [to work] with Pete [Jackson]. As far as the experience, what an extraordinary one it was because at the time I was in my work; I was in isolation with him and this incredible tag team. And at the very cool place with that technology doing mo-cap for two characters, Smaug the dragon and another character, which will remain nameless, and it was an awful lot of fun.”

He added, “It’s a sort of wonderful ongoing process, I spent a lot of time recording voice as well as doing movements. So, it was sort of freeing; it was fun. It was like playing a game. It’s going to be an amazing film; it’s going to be a real treat.” You can catch Benedict Cumberbatch in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which is set to be released on December 14, 2012.

Some pictures from the set of the Star Trek 2 movie were leaked on the internet recently and director J.J. Abrams is not too pleased about the leak. One of the pictures shows actress Zoe Saldana coming head to head with Benedict Cumberbatch and the actress has been talking about the leaked pictures and what a bummer it is that things like this happen.

Saldana explained, “J.J. was very upset. I have to say that. It’s not going to stop people from intruding, but they are, and it’s such a bummer because it only hurts them by stealing away the surprise.”

Zoe then revealed how excited she was to have Benedict Cumberbatch join the cast of Star Trek 2, as it was another good looking man on set.

She added, “Another yummy male actor in Star Trek, that’s what he’s adding, and I’m enjoying it.” Star Trek actor Zachary Quinto recently spoke about the leaked Star Trek 2 photos, saying that he was worried that he might get the blame for it. Star Trek 2 is also set to star Chris Pine, Alice Eve and Noel Clarke and will be released in both the US and the UK on May 17, 2013.

Zoe Saldana has become one of the most sought after Hollywood actresses in recent years and while she waits for James Cameron to finish writing his Avatar sequels, she is currently in the process of filming another sequel. Zoe is set to reprise her role as Nyota Uhura in the next instalment of the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movies.

Saldana explained, “It’s wonderful because I’ve been dying to work with the cast again, to work with JJ. I love him so much. He’s such an amazing human being and such an amazing storyteller and a great director, so what more can I ask for? I start the year and I’m literally going back to a very familiar environment and being a part of a great story.”

She then joked that the Star Trek sequel will have a very dull and boring storyline. Zoe added, “It’s going to be boring. There’s no conflict between Kirk and Spock, they agree on everything! They’re beer buddies. And there are no bad guys. We’re just cruising in space.” The, as of yet, untitled Star Trek sequel is set to be released on May 17, 2013.
Bob Orci discusses Star Trek sequel script changes
Bob Orci discusses Star Trek sequel script changes

It was recently claimed by Star Trek actor Zachary Quinto that the script for the Star Trek sequel would be going under some changes and would be ever evolving. This caused a little confusion among a lot of people, so writer and producer Bob Orci has taken the time to clear the matter up and explain what exactly Zachary Quinto was talking about.

Orci explained, “The changes I suspect Quinto is referring to are the character interactions as we fine tune the level of their various friendships. How well they all know each other and what they’ve all been through off screen is a nuanced yet essential part of the actors understanding where they are coming from with each other. While discussing the exact same plot elements, what they’ve been through colors their attitude toward each other.”

He added, “And given that the time past in real life is different than the amount of time passed in the movie world, it takes a polish to get it just right. That’s what polishes are for.” The Star Trek sequel is currently without an official title but the J.J. Abrams movie has begun filming and is set to be released on May 17, 2013.
Noel Clarke discusses Star Trek 2

The J.J. Abrams Star Trek sequel is still over a year away but the interest in the movie is still incredibly huge. While a lot of the cast from the first Star Trek movie are set to return, there are also a number of new faces set to appear. One of those faces is English actor, director and writer Noel Clarke who has been talking a little about getting the role.

Clarke explained, “It was just an audition like all the others, really. You do your lines and see what happens, and luckily this time I got the job I was at home, in my kids’ room, because they were making noise in the living room! And yeah, I was told I’d got it, and yeah, I was happy. I was happy. I don’t get over-excited about things, because I’m just kind of like that. I’m happy, but a job is a job. You get some, some you don’t get. But you can’t get over-excited about stuff.”

He added, “I think it’s just one of those things where it’s another level of accomplishment where you’ve done another job that’s bigger than the ones you’ve done before … all of that stuff helps in your career Hopefully it will just help me with mine. But how people look at me is up to them.” Star Trek 2 is set to be released on May 17, 2013.

J.J. Abrams talks Star Trek 2

It feels like we have been waiting forever for the Star Trek 2 movie to finally get underway and with the way that director J.J. Abrams likes to keep everything on the down low, it always feels like nothing is ever actually happening. However, J.J. Abrams has opened up a little about the plans for the Star Trek sequel and, while it seems that it will be released in 3-D, it is actually being filmed in 2-D.

Abrams explained, “We’re shooting on film, 2-D, and then we’ll do a good high-end conversion like the Harry Potter movie and all that. Luckily, with our release date now we have the months needed to do it right because if you rush it, it never looks good.” He then added, “We were talking about shooting in IMAX and I would love to do it. IMAX is my favourite format. I’m a huge fan.”

Star Trek 2 will see the return of Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock and Zoe Saldana as Nyota Uhura. While there have been a number of rumours about who the villain is set to be in the movie and which actor will play the role, nothing has yet been confirmed. However, with filming set to being in the next few weeks, it can only be a matter of time before we find out. Star Trek 2 is set to be released on May 17, 2013.
Is Benicio Del Toro playing Khan in Star Trek 2?
Is Benicio Del Toro playing Khan in Star Trek 2?

There have been a lot of rumours flying around about the Star Trek 2 movie, since it was confirmed that Benicio Del Toro has signed up to star in the Star Trek sequel. The latest rumour is that Benicio Del Toro will be playing Khan in Star Trek 2 but that everybody involved with the movie would be quick to deny it, as they are not happy with the information being leaked.

Well one part of that rumour has already been revealed to be true and that is the denials that Benicio Del Toro will play Khan. Star Trek 2 director J.J. Abrams kept it short and simple without giving anything away when he denied that Khan would be played by Benicio Del Toro. Abrams simply responded by saying, “Not true”, which says it all really.

So it seems that Benicio Del Toro, who has still to officially sign on the dotted line for the Star Trek sequel, will not be playing Khan in Star Trek 2 but then again, the denials were expected. We will let you make up your own mind. Star Trek 2, which will once again star Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, is set to begin shooting in January 2012, with the release date expected for May 17, 2013.
