What’s In Store For Phase Two Of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe?
What’s In Store For Phase Two Of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe?

With the extraordinary success of the most recent Avengers movie, attention is now focused on what lies in store for phase two of Marvel’s cinematic universe.

With the inevitable sequels already filming or well into pre-production, questions and rumours are abound about what exactly lies in store for Marvel and who will be next to make an appearance?

Further possibilities have come to light concerning Shane Black in Iron Man 3, with a possible hint that Ant-Man himself will be making some sort of appearance in the post-credits. According to the most recent podcast from The Playlist, it seems that the post credits scene in Iron Man 3 will effectively serve as the introduction to Hank Pym aka Ant-Man.

What’s more, the scene is reportedly to be directed by Edgar Wright, just as Joss Whedon directed Thor’s post credits scene directly setting up The Avengers.

This would make sense as Edgar Wright has been attached to an adaptation of Ant-Man for the last few years now, and this could well back up Wright’s earlier statements, saying that he was hoping to shoot some of Ant-Man this year.

Marvel have gone on record saying that Iron Man 3 is going to be a completely standalone story with S.H.I.E.L.D only playing a minor role this time around with Cobie Smolders’ Maria Hill playing a similar role to what Agent Coulson did in the first Iron Man film.

News also comes today in relation to William Sadler’s role in the movie. It was first reported that Sadler would be playing Dr. Sal Kennedy, a longtime friend of Tony Stark, in the threequel. Now, The Playlist via their podcast, report that Sadler will actually play a general and superior to Don Cheadle’s Col. James Rhodes.

Robert Downey Jr & Gwyneth Paltrow Begin Filming For Iron Man 3
Robert Downey Jr & Gwyneth Paltrow Begin Filming For Iron Man 3

Filming has kicked off for the highly anticipated “Iron Man 3″.

This is the first Marvel film since the success of ”The Avengers” and the debut movie in “Phase Two” of the Marvel cinematic universe. Iron Man 3 finds Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Don Cheadle (Col. James Rhodes) picking up their roles in the flick.

And even Jon Favreau will be making an appearance as Happy Hogan, despite not acting as director on this film.

Guy Pearce (as Dr. Aldrich Killian who creates the virus “Extremis”) and Ben Kingsley (initially thought to be Mallen but now heavily rumoured to be The Mandarin in a ‘shadowy villain’ role that would setup a bigger part in a future movie) are the two main bad-guys in the movie.

Rebecca Hall portrays Maya Hansen, a scientist working with Guy Pearce’s villain. James Badge Dale - who has a role that could be a major one based on set spoiler pictures - and William Sadler, Ashley Hamilton and Andy Lau are also on board.

From what we’ve heard so far, there’s a lot for fans to be excited about with Iron Man 3. And with “Lethal Weapon” screenwriter Shane Black behind the film, this could be something special.

“Iron Man 3″ is due for release May 3rd, 2013.

It has been reported that Scarlett Johansson is set to reprise her role as Black Widow yet again, for the third instalment of the Iron Man franchise. Feature Film Casting have confirmed that, as well as Scarlett Johansson returning, Don Cheadle will also be back as Rhodey and Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts.

The site also revealed, “The storyline is being described by writer-director Shane Black as being a Tom Clancy-thriller, with Iron Man fighting real world villains. Black stated, “the studio wasn’t happy with the result of Iron Man 2, as a result that pretty much came about due to a rushed production schedule in an attempt to hit a release date rather than simply make a good film.”

He added, “But I digress. Iron Man 3 will not be another, ‘two men in iron suits fighting each other’”. Scarlett Johansson will be appearing alongside Robert Downey Jr. later this year, in the eagerly anticipated movie The Avengers.

Filming for Iron Man 3 is expected to get underway in May of this year, with the release date of Iron Man 3 currently set for May 3, 2013. In the meantime, you can catch Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, in The Avengers, which is released on April 27 in the UK and May 4 in the US.

Stan Lee The Avengers cameo is his best yet

Comic book legend Stan Lee has been making cameo appearances in movies based on his comics for years now but it seems that he is finally getting to have some real fun with them. Stan has admitted, in an interview with Collider, that his cameo in The Avengers is his best work yet.

Lee explained, “The Avengers cameo that you will see, when that movie opens up, is possibly one of my best. And you know how good mine have been, but it is so funny. I can’t tell you what it is ‘cause they’d kill me, but it is funny.”

He added, “So is the Spider-Man one, by the way. They’re deciding to make my cameos a little funnier. They know that’s what brings the audiences in, of course, so they’ve gotta play them up.”

With the amount of Marvel movies that are due out over the next few years, the 89 year old Marvel genius is set to be kept quite a busy man. The next Stan Lee cameo appearance in a Marvel movie is expected to be in Iron Man 3, which is due out next.

In the meantime, you can catch Stan Lee in his latest cameo appearance, when The Avengers is released on April 27 in the UK and May 4 in the US.
Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye to get The Avengers spin off?
Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye to get The Avengers spin off?

There is just a few more months before we get to see Jeremy Renner on the big screen, portraying the character Hawkeye in the Marvel movie The Avengers and it may not be the last time that we see him in the role. There has been a lot of talk about possible spin offs to come from The Avengers, with many hoping to see Jeremy Renner return with a Hawkeye movie.

However, Jeremy claims that a Hawkeye spinoff is highly unlikely and that there is more of a chance of him returning to the big screen as part of another team. That suggests that there is a possibility that Marvel could be set to make a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, which would feature Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury.

There are a number of different directions that Marvel could go following The Avengers movie and we already have Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 set to be released. We could be seeing a number of spin offs from The Avengers for many years to come, so Jeremy Renner might just get his Hawkeye movie. The Avengers is set to be released on April 27 in the UK and May 4 in the US.

Don Cheadle and Robert Downey Jr. tease Iron Man 3

With The Avengers set to hit the big screen this year, we get the third outing of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man but he will be surrounded by a number of other superheroes. However, later this year, work will begin on Iron Man 3 and we will get to see Robert once again team up with Don Cheadle and both of the actors have discussed a little about the third instalment.

Cheadle explained, “It’s a lot more…it’s more action-packed, it’s a lot more fun. I think the interplay between Robert’s character and my character is a lot more dynamic. So, I’m looking forward to it.” Meanwhile, Downey Jr. added, “I think that we have an opportunity with the third Iron Man to make the best of the three, and maybe one of the better superhero movies that’s ever been made. But I think we have to remember what made the first one good.”

He continued, “It was very character-driven. It was very odd. It was kind of outrageous. And so I think we have to have the courage to trust that the audience is really kind of cool, and smart.” Shooting for Iron Man 3 is expected to start in the next couple of months with a release currently sounded out for May 2013.

Robert Downey Jr. reveals Iron Man’s journey in The Avengers

Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. has already appeared on the big screen twice as Tony Stark aka Iron Man and he is set to suit up again for this year’s blockbuster The Avengers, as well as Iron Man 3 next year. Robert has been discussing the journey that Iron Man has taken up to now and the journey that he faces in The Avengers.

Downey Jr. explained, “In Iron Man, which was an origin story, he was his own epiphany and redemption of sorts. Iron Man 2 is all about not being an island, and dealing with legacy issues and making space for others. There, he was a military machine. In The Avengers, he’s throwing it down with the others.” Robert then discussed how Tony would handle spending time with a Norse God of Thunder.

He added, “It’s other-dimensional, and so that’s the way that Tony think of this Loki-intergalactic-planetary-Beastie-Boys-son reality that happens in The Avengers. As an engineer and scientist who explores all possibilities, I don’t see why he would say, ‘That’s not possible.’” The Avengers is set to be released on April 27 in the UK and May 4 in the US.

The first Iron Man movie to feature Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark received high praise for being such an impressive movie but Iron Man 2 then came in for some criticism. However, Robert Downey Jr. believes that with Iron Man 3, they are capable of making the best in the franchise and even one of the best superhero movies ever.

Downey Jr. explained, “I think that we have an opportunity with the third Iron Man to make the best of the three, and maybe one of the better superhero movies that’s ever been made. But I think we have to remember what made the first one good, it was very character-driven. It was very odd. It was kind of outrageous. And so I think we have to have the courage to trust that the audience is really kind of cool, and smart.”

Iron Man 3 is set to be written and directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) and, while Jon Favreau did a fantastic job on the first two movies, it will be interesting to see which direction he takes Iron Man 3 in. Filming for Iron Man 3 is expected to get underway in May 2012, with a release date currently set for May 3, 2012.
Gwyneth Paltrow offers her views on racial diversity and the black community
Gwyneth Paltrow offers her views on racial diversity and the black community

39 year old American actress, singer, cook and Mrs Chris Martin, Gwyneth Paltrow has spoken out about, how the ever growing presence of black people in the entertainment business will help her children to grow up accepting people for who they are, regardless of race. Gwyneth admitted that this is much different to how things were when she was growing up.

Paltrow explained, “I don’t want to bemoan the fact that it should’ve happened 50 years ago, because it’s here now. And it’s like the way I see it is that I have two little kids who are understanding the world in a time when Rihanna is on the cover of  Vogue, and we have a black president. So their eyes are being as if they’re experiencing the world for the first time. All of this stuff is just root, it’s normal stuff for them. And that to me is what’s so incredible.”

She added, “When my daughter understood what a president was, it was a black man. It’s not like me, where I grew up with all of these old white guys one after another. Their perspective on race and everything is completely open and completely different to how it was when I was a kid.” Gwyneth Paltrow is set to reprise her role as Pepper Potts twice in the next two years. First, in The Avengers, which is released on May 4, 2012 and then in Iron Man 3, which is released on May 3, 2013.
Robert Downey Jr. full of praise for Shane Black
Robert Downey Jr. full of praise for Shane Black
Sherlock Holmes actor Robert Downey Jr. has revealed that the main reason he has agreed to return for a third outing as Iron Man, is because Shane Black has been brought on board. Shane Black is set to write and direct Iron Man 3, which has convinced Robert Downey Jr. to reprise his role as Tony Stark.

Robert explained, “Bringing in Shane Black to write and direct Iron Man 3 to me is basically the only transition from Favreau to a ‘next thing’ that Favreau and the audience and Marvel and I could ever actually sign off on.” He added, “[Black’s] more than the sum of his parts and he’s also kind of been a sleeper for a long time,” Downey Jr continued.

Downey Jr. continued, “We’re not talking much about [the script] right now because Shane is off writing and we talked before that, and when we are talking again the talking is going to be over pretty quick [because we’re on the same page].” Robert Downey Jr. is next on the big screen in the sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
