Emily Blunt would love to do comic book movie
Emily Blunt would love to do comic book movie

The Devil Wears Prada actress Emily Blunt has revealed that, even though she has previously turned down roles in both Iron Man 2 and Captain America, she would love to do a comic book movie in the future. Emily claims that the only reason she turned down the roles in the Marvel movies was because the female characters never seem to have very big roles.

Blunt explained, “Usually the female parts in a superhero film feel thankless: She’s the pill girlfriend while the guys are whizzing around saving the world. I didn’t do the other ones because the part wasn’t very good or the timing wasn’t right, but I’m open to any kind of genre if the part is great and fun and different and a challenge in some way.”

She added, “I would love to do a comic-book movie or a science-fiction film that would scare the bejesus out of me. Maybe I need to be James Bond!” You can catch Emily Blunt, starring alongside Ewan McGregor, in her latest movie Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, which is set to be released in the US on March 9 and in the UK on April 20.
Robert Downey Jr. reveals Iron Man’s journey in The Avengers
Robert Downey Jr. reveals Iron Man’s journey in The Avengers

Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. has already appeared on the big screen twice as Tony Stark aka Iron Man and he is set to suit up again for this year’s blockbuster The Avengers, as well as Iron Man 3 next year. Robert has been discussing the journey that Iron Man has taken up to now and the journey that he faces in The Avengers.

Downey Jr. explained, “In Iron Man, which was an origin story, he was his own epiphany and redemption of sorts. Iron Man 2 is all about not being an island, and dealing with legacy issues and making space for others. There, he was a military machine. In The Avengers, he’s throwing it down with the others.” Robert then discussed how Tony would handle spending time with a Norse God of Thunder.

He added, “It’s other-dimensional, and so that’s the way that Tony think of this Loki-intergalactic-planetary-Beastie-Boys-son reality that happens in The Avengers. As an engineer and scientist who explores all possibilities, I don’t see why he would say, ‘That’s not possible.’” The Avengers is set to be released on April 27 in the UK and May 4 in the US.

Robert Downey Jr. talks Iron Man 3

The first Iron Man movie to feature Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark received high praise for being such an impressive movie but Iron Man 2 then came in for some criticism. However, Robert Downey Jr. believes that with Iron Man 3, they are capable of making the best in the franchise and even one of the best superhero movies ever.

Downey Jr. explained, “I think that we have an opportunity with the third Iron Man to make the best of the three, and maybe one of the better superhero movies that’s ever been made. But I think we have to remember what made the first one good, it was very character-driven. It was very odd. It was kind of outrageous. And so I think we have to have the courage to trust that the audience is really kind of cool, and smart.”

Iron Man 3 is set to be written and directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) and, while Jon Favreau did a fantastic job on the first two movies, it will be interesting to see which direction he takes Iron Man 3 in. Filming for Iron Man 3 is expected to get underway in May 2012, with a release date currently set for May 3, 2012.
Scarlett Johansson compares Marvel directors
Scarlett Johansson compares Marvel directors
Scarlett Johansson has revealed how she believes that The Avengers director Joss Whedon will do his best to protect The Avengers franchise due to his being a fan boy. Scarlett also took the time to reveal the differences between Joss and Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau.

Scarlett previously worked with Favreau for Iron Man 2, where she appeared as the character Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow and she will be reprising that role for the Whedon directed The Avengers. Johansson also spoke a little about Thor director Kenneth Branagh.

She explained, “Joss is a fanboy. I think that Joss is going to protect the franchise by staying true to the characters’ integrity. I think Jon Favreau is such a different director from Joss Whedon. The flavour is different, their fingerprints are different. They just have a different way of storytelling - same with [Thor director] Kenneth Branagh.” The Avengers is set to be released on May 4, 2012.
Big year for Helena Mattsson
Big year for Helena Mattsson
27 year old Swedish actress Helena Mattsson has quite a big second half to 2011 lined up. The Surrogates actress has hardly taken the Hollywood acting world by storm but with one movie already released, she has another three set to come.

Helena has appeared in some of the top TV shows in the US, including Desperate Housewives and Two and a Half Men. However, her movie into big screen productions has not exactly taken off as well as she would have hoped, especially considering she was in Iron Man 2.

Now it appears that the remaining movies that she is set to appear in this year could be make or break for Helena Mattsson. However, with such good looks she is always bound to get work on some TV show or another, if it does not work out for her in the movies.
