Having Rihanna headline at the annual Peace & Love Festival was seen as a huge honor for Sweden, but the audience at the music gathering were unimpressed when the We Found Love singer appeared on stage 45 minutes late on Saturday.
However, Rhianna may have been hiding some considerable distress as it emerged this morning that her grandmother Dolly had died from cancer.
Rihanna also seemed to forget where she was, and dedicated her Redemption Song to Norway. Some fans took to Twitter to condemn the singer as a result - not realising her loved ‘Gran Gran Dolly’ had died.
Although it is not clear when Dolly died, Rhianna took to Twitter this morning to mourn her relative.
Her Grandmother, who her family affectionately called Gran Gran Dolly, died yesterday following a battle with cancer. She had been hospitalised at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York.
The festival organisers were clearly excited to have the pop star attend, with the website for the event reading: ‘Now it’s finally done. This summer Rihanna will play an exclusive Sweden concert as the main act at Peace & Love.
‘Rihanna has become one of the world’s most famous and successful artists. She has achieved great success with songs like Umbrella, Only Girl (In The World), Disturbia, What’s My Name, Man down and We Found Love to name a few.
‘We are extremely proud to announce Rihanna for Peace & Love 2012!’
