Gossip Girl Season 6 To Be The Last
Gossip Girl Season 6 To Be The Last

Hit TV drama Gossip Girl is about to go in it’s sixth season, and show bosses have now announced that sadly, it will be the last.

The hugely popular teen show, based on author Cecily von Ziegesar’s book series of the same name, debuted in the U.S. back in 2007, and quickly became a global phenomenon, making stars of its lead cast members, including Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick and Penn Badgley.

But executives at The CW network, where the drama airs in America, have announced the programme will draw to a close after a shortened sixth season hits our screens this autumn, which will consist of just eleven episodes.

In a statement to UsMagazine.com, show bosses revealed that the final storyline will revolve around an unstable Serena van der Woodsen, the New York socialite played by the stunning Blake Lively: “Serena has gone off the grid, beyond even the reach of Gossip Girl. Her friends fear for the worst and hope for the best, but even they can’t imagine where they will ultimately find her.”

Although little has been said regarding the reasons for the show coming to an end, it is understandable that the cast will want to branch out and take advantage of the opportunities Gossip Girl has provided them with. Blake has recently moved in with new beau, Ryan Reynolds, and the pair are said to be blissfully happy together.

Gossip Girl season finale teased

Gossip Girl showrunner, Josh Safran, has give fans a little tease about what they can expect from the season finale of the hit The CW show. Josh told TV Line that fans can expect to see an end point to the love triangle involving Dan (Penn Badgley), Blair (Leighton Meester) and Chuck (Ed Westwick).

Safran explained, “Dan knows just how big of a presence Chuck has been in Blair’s life. The harder she works at putting Dan at ease about that the more uneasy he feels. And, obviously, their relationship is hard for everybody around them because Serena (Blake Lively) was and maybe still is in love with Dan. And Chuck has his issues that he’s dealing with. And whenever Chuck is dealing with issues, Blair often wants to help.

He added, “That triangle definitely comes to the end point. But the episode revolves around Serena quite heavily. It’s a very huge turning point for Serena - probably the biggest one she’s had since season one… it ends with many cliffhangers. We always try to make our finales really exciting and juicy and fun. But in this one, it’s like a bomb gets detonated and levels everything.”

Josh continued, “This storyline is something we did not tread lightly about. We knew if we were going to open this door we had to see it through. And we will be seeing it through.”

Gossip Girl airs on The CW every Monday night at 8/7c.

He added, “I love the voice. On the show she’s trying to tell me all these things and I’m trying not to crack a smile because she’s so charming.” Chace then went on to discuss the future of Gossip Girl, claiming that he was unsure about a sixth season but hopes that they do return.

Crawford continued, “There was no real way to gauge it I guess, but we’ve had a great run, a really good run. So we’re still going, we’ve got maybe one more year left.”

I go to bed at 9am, sleep for four hours, then get up and start the day again. To be honest, I don’t know what to do when I’m not working. I lose my mind if I’m not constantly doing something.”

Blake Lively gets restraining order against stalker Sergei Mifle

It has been reported that Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively has filed for a restraining order against Sergei Mifle, who has been stalker her and her mother Elain Lively aged 64. Sergei Mifle will now have to stay 100 yards away from their property and also stop intimidating, stalking or contacting them. However, the restraining order is only temporary and will expire on March 2, when a court hearing will be held.

The documents are said to read, “Respondent Mifle has contacted Elain Lively multiple times by telephone and by email.” It went on to add the Sergei, “left Elain a voicemail saying, in effect, ‘I really would like to not wait anymore for a phone call’, and that he needs to talk to Blake Lively ‘before it’s too late’.”

It also states that 24 year old Blake Lively had become, “anxious and worried and fearful when she learned of Respondent Mifle’s harassment and stalking behaviour”. Blake Lively was forced to take action against Sergei Mifle, after he turned up at the Gossip Girl set claiming that he needed to be with Blake as he and her had a metaphysical” and “spiritual” connection. Blake Lively is worried that, without the order, Sergei Mifle will continue to show up where she is filming.

I have some amazing shoes and bags and stories than need to be appreciated.” Blake then discussed what she finds attractive in the opposite sex. She added, “Confidence is sexy. When you see a man who’s completely comfortable in his skin, it puts you at ease.”

Former Gossip Girl actress Taylor Momsen, who left the show in search of success with her band The Pretty Reckless, has revealed that people’s comments about her style make her laugh. Taylor claims that she has always had the same eye makeup but still people insist on talking about it. Taylor also admitted that she can be a very neurotic person a lot of the time.

Momsen explained, “I love stripper shoes and I always try to find the tallest ones. I’m always surprised no one talks about my shoes. I’m, like, on stage in 15-inch heels but people talk more about my eye make-up, which has stayed the same forever. I always think that’s funny. I got into heels when I was little, though. My mum’s really short so she always wears really tall heels and I used to steal them and now it’s just a part of my everyday life.”

Speaking of being neurotic she said, “I’m completely neurotic, totally anxious and high-strung all the time. I sleep for about four hours a night, or day, really. Leighton Meester has become one of the most recognised faces around, thanks to her performances as Blair in the hit The CW television drama Gossip Girl. Leighton auditioned for Gossip Girl way back in 2006 but she can still remember the whole audition process and was so glad to get the part, as it meant that she could finally move to New York.

So when my agent sent me the Gossip Girl script, I thought Blair was perfect for me. Originally the script had my character suffering from an eating disorder but they ended up taking it out.”

Gossip Girl is now well into its fifth season and recently reached a milestone, as it celebrated its 100th episode. Leighton Meester has been a key member of the cast for the majority of those 100 episodes and is likely to continue to be for many more to come. The landmark 100th episode of Gossip Girl is set to hit television screens soon and the show’s executive producers have been teasing what fans can expect from the 100th episode. Josh Safran told how fans are set to gasp at the final scenes of the episode, while Stephanie Savage revealed that all will become clear with future episodes of Gossip Girl.

Savage explained, “That’s one of the fun things about having a mature show in season five. In the first couple of seasons, you feel like you have to keep certain things very guarded and protected, because the hope is that you’ll have to make them last a long time. You’ll learn more about why that has happened and how that has happened. You see, it was such an easy decision. It wasn’t something we belaboured over or had long discussions about.”

Safran added, “You have to see the last few minutes to believe them. I really think they will take people’s breath away.” Josh also admitted that Chuck (Ed Westwick) is going to find it difficult not to return to his bad boy roots in future episodes. Gossip Girl air on Monday night at 8/7c on The CW.
Ed Westwick still surprised by fame
Ed Westwick still surprised by fame

English actor Ed Westwick has revealed how he is still surprised by how big an impact his fame has on his everyday living. Ed admitted that the success of the show Gossip Girl has made him such a huge star and he sometimes has to take a step back to remember who he is and what is actually going on around him. One such case was at the premiere for the movie J. Edgar.

Westwick explained, “Yeah, I am. I mean, it’s nuts. It’s still nuts. I was at the premiere for J. Edgar and we were coming out of the premiere, which was at Mann’s Chinese Theatre, and I was crossing the street to the Roosevelt hotel where the cocktail reception was. I had to get a police escort across the street and I was like, ‘What is going on right now?!’”

He added, “It’s daunting, but it’s amazing that everyone’s really still digging the show. It’s great. We’re still having fun doing it, so it works all around, I guess.” Ed Westwick recently admitted that, while he still loves working on the show Gossip Girl, he does also feel that he needs to push on and start making more movies. Gossip Girl continues on The CW on Monday nights.
