Gary Barlow confirmed judge for X Factor 2012
Gary Barlow confirmed judge for X Factor 2012

After weeks of rumours over who this year’s X Factor judges will be, Gary Barlow is officially confirmed as one of the panel.

Take That tours and Diamond Jubilee commitments had both been suggested as possible reasons why Gary Barlow would not be able to return to the ITV singing contest, but it seems he has made the hit show a priority after much schedule reshuffling. The 41-year-old singer will reprise his role as an X Factor judge, a job he is very pleased to pick back up.

Gary said: ‘I’m thrilled to be back and really looking forward to working with The X Factor team again. The fact that a superstar could just walk out on that stage is very exciting.’

Simon Cowell seemed equally as pleased with the news, saying: ‘It’s great to be able to confirm our first judge for this year’s show. Gary has earned his place and I’m excited to be working with him again.’

It has also been revealed that for the first time in X Factor history, the show will be accepting online auditions via Facebook.

Now all that’s left to reveal is who the other three judges will be… Watch this space.

The Wanted’s Tom Parker wanted as X Factor judge
The Wanted’s Tom Parker wanted as X Factor judge

Simon Cowell has still got a lot of work to do with both the US and the UK version of The X Factor, as it is still unclear who the judges are going to be for both shows. However, The Wanted singer Tom Parker has emerged as one of the favourites for a judging role.

It is not yet clear whether Tom will become a judge on the US or the UK version of The X Factor. The fact that Simon Cowell has turned to Tom Parker suggests that we could be seeing the back of Take That singer Gary Barlow, who has yet to sign on for a second season.

There have been many rumours since the end of the previous season of The X Factor, that Gary Barlow was looking to spend more time with his family this year, so would not be returning. The inclusion of Tom Parker to The X Factor judging panel would seem to confirm this.

Simon Cowell has gone for a younger male judge, following the success of Tulisa Contostavlos on last season’s show. It is also an attempt to get more young girls watching the show and boost the viewing figures. The X Factor is set to return to TV screens later this year.

Louis Walsh confirms The X Factor return

Long serving X Factor judge Louis Walsh has revealed that he will be returning for his ninth season as a judge on the hit reality television singing competition. Louis also admitted that he was certain that Tulisa Contostavlos and Gary Barlow would be returning but he was unsure about Kelly Rowland.

Walsh explained to The Mirror, “I am so happy to have signed up for another year. It’s my ninth year, I’m the only person to be in it for nine years… I’m busy now from here until Christmas. I signed the deal yesterday - making it my ninth year on the show.

He added, “I never wanted to be on TV, it was never in my plan. But now I’m on it, I love the show. I know two of the judges who are going to be beside me, but I still don’t know who the fourth is going to be just yet.”

Louis continued, “I know for definite that Tulisa [Contostavlos] is back, and Gary [Barlow] is back. I’m not sure if Kelly is back, but I hope she is, because she worked really hard last year.”

The X Factor is set to return to ITV later this year.
Gary Barlow to be forced out of The X Factor?
Gary Barlow to be forced out of The X Factor?

It seems that X Factor judge Gary Barlow may have no choice but to leave the hit ITV reality singing competition due to scheduling conflicts. Gary has made a serious commitment to the Queen’s Diamond Jubillee celebrations and it seems that these plans are set to clash with The X Factor auditions.

An insider told The People, “Gary wants to go back and Simon wants him but he has got a lot on this summer, namely the Jubilee concert which is taking up a lot of his time. This and other projects he is working on mean that unless the audition schedule changes, Gary won’t be an X Factor judge for this year’s show.

The insider added, “It will be a huge blow for Simon. He loved the X Factor line-up last year and he hopes that he will be able to keep it the same. It is going to take a lot of juggling around though.”

Simon Cowell has had his work cut out this year, replacing the outgoing judges and host of The X Factor USA and now it seems that he may have to find a replacement for Gary Barlow on the UK version of the show.

Take That singer songwriter Gary Barlow has revealed how he and his former Take That band mate Robbie Williams have been writing songs together and it is believed that Robbie will record one of said songs for his new album. Gary also admitted that, despite their rough relationship in the past, he and Robbie will be friends forever.

Barlow explained, “I’ve written some stuff already, actually, with Rob. I mean, Rob writes all year round. But I always said to him, ‘If you get a sticky patch or whatever, I’ll come in and reignite all that stuff’. I’m someone who’s always creating, writing - I’ve always got ideas. So he can use me whenever he wants.”

He added, “I do feel like it wasn’t just an 18-month thing with me and Rob. I think we’ll be friends forever now. “I promised everybody a year off. Cause we’ve pretty much done album, tour, album, tour for five years. So I said to everyone as we left the tour, ‘I’ll call you in a year.’ Of course, I’ve called ‘em all. But we haven’t talked about music!” Robbie Williams is believed to be close to completing his latest album.
Noel Gallagher to become X Factor judge?
Noel Gallagher to become X Factor judge?

Former Oasis guitarist and singer Noel Gallagher has revealed that he would be willing to become the new judge on The X Factor but only if he was to receive £1million after tax. However, Noel did admit that he was just saying it all in jest and that he was not really interested in being involved in The X Factor, even if the money was too good to turn down.

Gallagher explained, “It’s about six months’ work, innit? I reckon it would have to be a million pounds after tax.” Noel then continued by adding, “I say that tongue-in-cheek. I don’t really want to do it. But a million pounds for six months’ work? That’s good money if you can get it. Even I don’t earn that much.”

There has been a lot of talk surround the upcoming season of The X Factor, with Kelly Rowlands definitely leaving as a judge and the other three judges from last season, Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos, still to sign on for the new season. It was also recently claimed that Xtra Factor presenters Olly Murs and Caroline Flack could also be getting replaced for the next season of the show.

Take That singer and X Factor judge Gary Barlow has revealed how he entered into talks about returning for another season of the ITV singing competition before the last season had even finished. There had been talks that Gary would be leaving The X Factor to spend more time with his family and, although he has yet to sign, he does seem to have changed his mind.

Gary explained, “I started talks two weeks before the last one finished. We are talking.” Meanwhile an X Factor insider claims that the show would not have been as good as it was without Gary Barlow, so getting him back is a must. They said, “Gary loved being on the show and genuinely wants to be back. While viewing figures were down a few million, the feeling is it would have been worse without Gary.”

Gary Barlow was the highest paid judge on The X Factor judging panel last season, with a reported £1.5m fee, and it is believed that he will be offered even more money to return for a second season. It is also believed that Tulisa Contostavlos will return after also being offered a pay rise and Louis Walsh will return yet again. Who will be the new The X Factor UK judges?
Who will be the new The X Factor UK judges?

So far, it seems that the only judge that will definitely be returning for the next season of The X Factor is Louis Walsh. Kelly Rowland initially claimed that she would love to return to the ITV singing competition but it appears that she has now changed her mind. Gary Barlow has stated that he wants to spend more time with his family this year, so he is doubtful and Tulisa Contostavlos is currently sitting on the fence.

So that means that The X Factor will potentially need to find three new judges to sit on the panel and give feed back to the wannabe singers. As always, there have been rumours of who will be the new judges for The X Factor. One such rumour is that Simon Cowell is keen to get Cheryl Cole back and ITV have even claimed that they would love for her to return.

There has also been a rumour that Nicole Scherzinger could be set to move to the UK version of The X Factor, after leaving The X Factor USA, although that does seem very unlikely. As does the rumour that Kylie Minogue could be in line to appear as a judge on The X Factor, especially since her sister Dannii was sacked from the show. All we can do is wait but for now, who would you like to see on the judging panel of The X Factor?
