Will ‘Batman: The Dark Knight Rises’ Be The Last In The Franchise?
Will ‘Batman: The Dark Knight Rises’ Be The Last In The Franchise?

The trailer for Batman: The Dark Knight Rises looks incredible, but while we’re thrilled about the arrival of the film into UK cinemas, it sounds as though lead actor Christian Bale might actually feel the complete opposite about the whole franchise – as sources reveal that he can’t wait to give up his role as Batman.

In fact, according to his co-star Matthew Modine, Christian has apparently ‘had enough’ of playing the well-known superhero.

Matthew told E Online, “I think Christian may have had enough. You don’t want to become a sort of paraody of what it is. There was a point when you wished Sean Connery would have stopped. He was just getting too old and toupes were getting too bug. They’re going to go out winning.”

Whilst we’re not sure Christian is in need of a toupe just yet, we can’t imagine he’ll continue playing a character that he doesn’t want to play. And yet, despite Matthew’s claims, Christian sounds far more open to coming back for a fourth film, if indeed a fourth film goes ahead.

“I think it’s appropriate, I think it’s going out at the right time,” he told Empire. “But if Chris [Nolan; Director and Writer of The Dark Knight Rises] came to me with a script and said, ‘You know what? There is another story’, then I would love the challenge of making a fourth one work.”

Still, whether there may or may not be another film is not the focus at the moment. Instead, it’s all about the eagerly anticipated release of The Dark Knight Rises on 20 July. It’s going to be one of the biggest releases of the summer, and we can’t wait to go and see it!

The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy compares The Joker to Bane

Tom Hardy has grown and grown as an actor over the past few years and is now set to appear on the big screen in his biggest role yet, as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. The previous Batman movie The Dark Knight, saw the caped crusader facing The Joker, so how does Tom feel that Bane is different.

Hardy explained to Entertainment Weekly, “The Joker didn’t care-he just wanted to see the world burn, and he was a master of chaos and destruction, unscrupulous and crazy. Bane is not that guy. There’s a very meticulous and calculated way about Bane. There is a huge orchestration of organization to his ambition.”

Tom then went on to claim that The Dark Knight Rises is as much a standalone movie as it is the concluding part to the Christopher Nolan trilogy. He added, “It stands alone, yet completes a cyclical work. Think triplets instead of one child after another - The Dark Knight triplets.”

The Dark Knight Rises will mark the end of the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy and it is expected that the Batman franchise will once again get a reboot in a few years time. The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway and is set to be released on July 20.

The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy discusses Bane’s voice

The Dark Knight Rises actor Tom Hardy, who is set to play the villain Bane in the upcoming Christopher Nolan Batman movie, has revealed how he believes that they have taken a big risk with the potential mumbling of Bane’s voice. However, Tom did admit that he believes the audience will soon be able to tune into the voice.

Hardy explained to Entertainment Weekly, “It’s a risk, because we could be laughed at - or it could be very fresh and exciting. The audience mustn’t be too concerned about the mumbly voice. As the film progresses, I think you’ll be able to tune to its setting.”

Concerns arose about the sound of Bane’s voice when the six minute prologue was released earlier this year. It showed scenes of Tom Hardy as Bane but due to the mask and the accent, it was rather difficult to understand what was being said.

The Dark Knight Rises is the third and final movie in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and it will also be the last time that we see Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader. As well as Tom Hardy as Bane, Batman will also be up against Catwoman, who is played by Anne Hathaway.

The Dark Knight Rises is released on July 20.
Bane co-creator Chuck Dixon discusses The Dark Knight Rises plot
Bane co-creator Chuck Dixon discusses The Dark Knight Rises plot

Chuck Dixon is a legend among comic book fans and was one of the people involved in creating the Batman villain Bane. With Bane set to appear on the big screen in The Dark Knight Rises, Chuck has been discussing the difficulties that Christopher Nolan may have had portraying certain aspects of Bane onto the big screen.

Dixon explained to Comic Book Movie, “No clue. From the latest trailer it certainly looks like there’s a downfall coming for Bruce Wayne. But I’m guessing like everyone else. He’s pretty clearly drawn. Maybe his difficulty in relating to women. He was raised in an all-male world and seems flummoxed by the women he meets.” Chuck then discussed whether he had a particular actor in mind for Bane.

He added, “Not really. I was just hoping it would be someone who could act. Tom Hardy fits that description. He’s very talented. I haven’t heard enough of the voice. But his speaking voice in other movies has the right timbre. And he does accents well. His Philadelphia accent in Warriors sounded right to me, even though his character was supposed to be from Pittsburgh.”

The Dark Knight Rises is the third and final instalment of the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy and will also see Christian Bale portraying the Caped Crusader for the third and final time. The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released on July 20.
The Dark Knight Rises cinematographer Wally Pfister teases Batman plot
The Dark Knight Rises cinematographer Wally Pfister teases Batman plot

Cinematographer Wally Pfister has worked with director Christopher Nolan on a number of projects over the years and teamed up with him again for The Dark Knight Rises. It is the third and final instalment of the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy and Wally has been discussing what he can reveal about the plot of the movie.

Pfister explained to The Cinematographer, “Not much! It’s the continuing story of Batman, beginning where it left off last time, with Batman on the run and Gotham City facing continual problems. They realise they need Batman back, but there are new villains he has to tackle.”

He added, “What I can say is that Chris has gathered a lovely family ensemble cast – with Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne again, Gary Oldman back as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, and Michael Caine as Alfred. He has also reunited Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt who we worked with on Inception.”

Wally added, “Chris came to me with the project, said it was the third and concluding part of a trilogy. He wanted there to be a bridge between The Dark Knight and this one. Batman movies have always been dark. So we’re covering some ground from the previous films, but there’s something new in this one. Chris also wanted to ‘up’ action. We’re shooting segments on IMAX again, and this will really elevate the visual aspect of the film.”

Who should play Batman after The Dark Knight Rises?
Who should play Batman after The Dark Knight Rises?

The Dark Knight Rises will mark the end of the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy and well also see Christian Bale stepping down as the caped crusader. It has already been confirmed that the Batman franchise will once again get a reboot, so who should play Batman?

Well there are a few key points to take into consideration when trying to cast Batman for the big screen. As fans of Batman will know, Bruce Wayne is a tall, attractive gentleman who has a perfect jaw line and also looks very good in a suit.

Add to that the fact that he also has to have a rather muscular physique and you have already managed to rule out a number of Hollywood’s leading men. So who does that really leave? Well one name that we have heard mentioned is Ryan Gosling, who could easily portray the suave, rich, playboy and also has the frame of a man who can take care of himself in a punch up.

Then there is Robert Pattinson, who many would be quick to dismiss. However, Robert is a very capable actor and with the right script and the right director, he could well make a good Bruce Wayne and in turn a good Batman. Robert Pattinson as Batman would also draw in the Twilight crowd, giving Batman a new fan base. He would have to bulk up a bit though.

Who do you think should play Batman when the franchise gets a reboot after The Dark Knight Rises?

New The Dark Knight Rises Images

The third and final Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy is still a few months away yet. However, the closer we get to the release date, the more promotional material we are likely to see, such as these new The Dark Knight Rises images.

The images are from a set of The Dark Knight Rises standees, which are set to go on sale and help to promote the movie. They are not the most exciting images you will ever see but, nonetheless, they are The Dark Knight Rises images.

For anybody who is unfamiliar with standees, they are a large, self standing display, which companies send out during the promotion of their movie. The Dark Knight Rises standees show Christian Bale in a typical Batman pose, as well as two of Tom Hardy as Bane and one of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.

Check out the images of The Dark Knight Rises standees and let us know what you think. The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released in both the US and the UK on July 20 and we for one, simply cannot wait!
Man of Steel director Zack Snyder to make The Dark Knight Returns?
Man of Steel director Zack Snyder to make The Dark Knight Returns?

Now most of you probably already know about this because I do believe that it is actually old news but I have only just become aware of it. Apparently, a while back, Man of Steel director Zack Snyder claimed that he would love to make a Batman movie.

However, don’t get your hopes up that it will be any time soon, as he would have his sights set on making a Batman movie based on the story The Dark Knight Returns. This is the story of an aging Batman in his 50s, coming out of retirement to take on Harvey Dent and his new evil gang of mutants.

Snyder is quoted as saying, “Frank’s Dark Knight is a 50-year-old Batman. The reality is that Batman, as a franchise at Warner Brothers, is doing pretty good; people have heard of it. Chris is killing it to death. It will be only 20 years from now, and it’ll be Christian Bale in his 50s. By then, Chris will be over it and I’ll roll up and be like, ‘Let’s make a Dark Knight movie!’”

The possibility of Zack Snyder directing a Batman movie would have many fans excited, although many will also claim that nobody will ever do a better job than Christopher Nolan. However, in 20 years time, a Zack Snyder Batman movie could be just what is needed. We will have to just wait and see. Arriba!!
The Dark Knight Rises could have starred Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jessica Biel
The Dark Knight Rises could have starred Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jessica Biel

The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released later this year, bringing an end to the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy and there are some big names in the movie. However, there could have been some different names on the cast list, equally as big, if not bigger.

As always, a lot of people audition for roles in movies, especially for a movie as big as The Dark Knight Rises and it seems that we could have had a completely different cast. While Christian Bale was always set to return as Batman, there are a few new characters set to appear.

Juno Temple will be starring in The Dark Knight Rises as Holly Robinson, a role which could have gone to The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence. Then there is Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is playing John Blake, a role which Leonardo DiCaprio also auditioned for.

Finally there is the role of Catwoman, who is being played in The Dark Knight Rises by Anne Hathaway but there was a chance of Jessica Biel getting the role. However, Christopher Nolan rarely gets anything wrong with his Batman movies and we are sure the people he chose for The Dark Knight Rises will be perfect.

The Dark Knight Rises secrecy explained by Hans Zimmer
The Dark Knight Rises secrecy explained by Hans Zimmer

The Dark Knight Rises composer Hans Zimmer has been discussing a little about his work on the upcoming Batman movie and took the time to explain a few of the reasons behind Christopher Nolan’s secrecy over the film. Hans claims that he believes that movies are supposed to be made this way and that the audience respond better when they know less about a film.

Zimmer explained, “Well, I think that there are two elements to this. One is, I think, to be able to do really good work, you have to have the chance to fail in privacy. And if everybody’s watching you on the Internet, I think it stifles creativity. And I think Dark Knight is the perfect example of this idea. Everybody knew we were making a Batman movie. But until it came out they didn’t know it was going to be that sort of a Batman movie.”

He added, “Isn’t that what we’re supposed to do? We’re supposed to go and surprise you. And part of the experience has to be a surprise. It feels a little bit like we’re working very hard at protecting part of what is great about movies - the surprise. Because it seems like the world doesn’t want you to do that anymore.” The Dark Knight Rises sees Christian Bale take on the role as Batman for the third and final time, when it is released on July 20.
The Dark Knight Rises producer praises Tom Hardy
The Dark Knight Rises producer praises Tom Hardy

Emma Thomas, who is one of the producers on the latest Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises, has revealed how impressed she was with English actor Tom Hardy, who plays Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. Emma also admitted that Batman himself Christian Bale is the perfect person for an actor such as Tom Hardy to go up against in a movie.

Thomas explained, “Tom made a massive physical transformation for the role. It really is an intense performance. He finally feels like a match for Batman – both physically and mentally”. She added, “Christian Bale and Tom Hardy are both such fiercely committed actors that pitching them as adversaries works incredibly well.”

Emma Thomas then went on to talk a little bit about Catwoman, who is played by Anne Hathaway, although she did not really give too much away. Emma continued, “it’s completely new, you never quite know where you are with her.” Everybody has been sworn to secrecy with The Dark Knight Rises and nobody is giving anything away. We will just have to wait until July 20, when The Dark Knight Rises finally hits the big screen.
