It has been claimed that Simon Cowell is running scared of rival television show The Voice UK, after it was announced that Britain’s Got Talent will be pushed back half an hour to an 8:30pm start for Saturday, April 21. Now, a source at the BBC has claimed that it is a sign that Simon Cowell has accepted defeat.
A BBC insider explained to The Mirror, “Cowell tried to disrupt the launch of The Voice and failed and now he’s running scared. It’s great news for us and for TV viewers that there will be no overlap.”
Meanwhile, an ITV insider added, “Simon and ITV boss Peter Fincham hoped to ruin the start of The Voice but the clash has backfired spectacularly. By going to a later slot they are waving the white flag.”
The insider added, “Cowell will not be happy and hates to be second-best. He has never moved The X Factor for Strictly Come Dancing and is used to calling the shots. This is very much a first - and a humiliating one at that.”
The Voice UK and Britain’s Got Talent are set to go head to head again this weekend, with The Voice starting their 80 minute episode at 7pm on BBC One, while Britain’s Got Talent starts at 8pm on ITV1.
One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson, who had his big break with the reality singing competition The X Factor, is clearly still a fan of reality television and in particular Britain’s Got Talent. It also seems that there is one act in particular that Louis has taken a liking to.
19 year old, Irish wannabe, Ryan O’Shaughnessy appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, where he wowed the nation by performing the track No Name, which Ryan actually wrote himself about a long term crush. Louis was so impressed by this that he had to voice it to the world.
Tomlinson took to his official Twitter account to inform his followers, which have now almost reached two and a half million people. He tweeted, “Wow , just watched Ryan’s audition on BGT. Amazing talent.”
Ryan was delighted to receive such support from somebody who has come from a similar situation and took to his own Twitter account to thank the One Direction singer for his kind words. O’Shaughnessy replied, “@Louis_Tomlinson Thanks man! Really appreciate it ;)”.

It has been reported that X Factor boss and Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell is set to be nicer to wannabes, in a bid to outperform The Voice. Simon is believed to have been very disappointed that Britain’s Got Talent was beat by The Voice in the ratings at the weekend and wants to put things right.
An insider explained to The Sun, “Simon wasn’t happy when he saw the ratings. He likes to be number one in everything he does. He has told producers they must make BGT even better. He is known as being a perfectionist and this will only renew his desire to beat The Voice.”
They added, “The big fear is that viewers will start seeing The Voice as the leading singing show. That would mean the best singers flocking to apply to it instead of The X Factor - and these shows live or die on their talent.”
The insider continued, “Simon always learns lessons. He will be seriously considering whether he has to be nicer to contestants. He has softened his Mr Nasty image over the years. But maybe now he needs to turn fully into Mr Nice. It’s clear viewers are starting to get a taste for more positive shows.”
It has been reported that singer Alesha Dixon is being lined up to replace Kelly Rowland as a judge on the ITV reality singing competition The X Factor. A show insider has claimed that, if Alesha does a good enough job on Britain’s Got Talent, Simon Cowell will offer her The X Factor job.
The insider explained, “It’s a possibility that Alesha will be asked to be an X Factor judge if her stint on Britain’s Got Talent is successful. Simon originally wanted Alesha instead of Kelly to join the judging panel last year, but she backed out and decided to stay loyal to Strictly and the BBC.”
They added, “In a way, Alesha’s better suited to The X Factor because she is in touch with popular music and has had hit singles, as a solo artist and a member of her old band Mis-Teeq.” However, it appears that Kelly Rowland is still keen on returning for a second season on The X Factor.
Kelly has been quoted as saying, “I would like to do it but it is up to Simon Cowell.” It seems likely that Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh will return next season and it looks like Simon Cowell has a decision to make regarding the final seat at the judges table.
Who would you rather see as an X Factor judge? Kelly Rowland again or Alesha Dixon?
The X Factor creator Simon Cowell has revealed how there is nothing on Earth that could convince him to take part in the reality television series I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Although there seems to be plenty of people who would love to see Simon in the Australian jungle.
Cowell explained, “There’s not enough money in the world to get me in there. You could give me France, I wouldn’t, I couldn’t do it. That show is like torture and it’s getting worse and worse.” Meanwhile, I’m A Celebrity… hosts Ant and Dec admitted that they would love to see Simon Cowell in the jungle.
Ant said, “We’d love to see Simon in that camp. He wouldn’t last two minutes. In the morning he has to have three different smoothies but I don’t think he’d cope with the smoothies we’d give him. They’d probably be purified testicles.”
Dec added, “The snakes would be more scared of him than he would be of them.” Before a show insider admitted that the audience would also love to see Simon Cowell performing some of the bushtucker trials.
The insider shared, “It’s a shame because all those X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent rejects, as well as half the nation, would have dialled up to get Simon doing all the Bushtucker Trials.”
Britain’s Got Talent winner Susan Boyle has hit back at English comedian Ricky Gervais after his rude comments about her during his stand up show Science. Ricky claimed that he though Susan Boyle was a “mong” which is a very derogatory word for someone suffering from Down’s Syndrome but Susan has stated that she paid no attention to the comment, as it is Ricky who has the problem.
Boyle explained, “I can take whatever Ricky says, because I’ll tell you something — he’s the one with the problem, not me. Ricky’s a talented man but he’s wasted himself with those comments. I think people who liked him are not so keen now. I’ve had a lot of insults. Do you know what I do? I ignore them. I just get on with my life. Those who have something to say usually have nothing to do.”
Susan Boyle is currently rehearsing for her latest gig, which is a stage production titled I Dreamed A Dream and chronicles the rise to fame of the Scottish singing sensation and is already being tipped to get runs on West End in London and on New York’s Broadway. I Dreamed A Dream is set to start at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal on March 23.
It has been confirmed that Simon Cowell and Mezhgan Hussainy have officially split, after Mezhgan became a bit too needy for Simon. One of Simon Cowell’s closest friends Zeta Graff has claimed that Simon became a little disillusioned with the relationship when Mezhgan began to talk about their future together.
Graff explained, “Mezhgan was lovely but it was all too much for Simon. As soon as he hears the words ‘stability’ and ‘future’, I think it all became a bit too much. She was too needy, but he did try. Simon needs a woman who isn’t defined by him, who has her own career or wealth. Someone who doesn’t depend on him. But he and Mezhgan are still friends.”
Simon recently stated, “We have had a break from each other, and we are still incredibly close. I don’t really know where I am at the moment. I’m vulnerable. It’s not on, it’s not off, it’s somewhere in the middle. I don’t know if I will ever get married, but I am happy.” Simon Cowell is currently a very busy man, with Britain’s Got Talent and both The X Factor USA and The X Factor UK to run.
Former Baywatch star David Hasselhoff has revealed how he was happy to leave the UK talent show, Britain’s Got Talent, as he felt he had given all he could to the show. David claims that, if he was asked back he probably would have said yes because he is not very good at saying no but he is glad that he was not asked to return for another season.
Hasselhoff explained, “I don’t like to say no, it’s hard. I’m not good at being rude. I’m not good at being honest when I know it’s going to break someone’s heart. We only signed for a year and when I left his last words were ‘fantastic, you did a great job’. If I was invited back, and I wasn’t, I’m not sure I would have come back - I’m having more fun being on stage.”
He added, “All I know is that people come up to me on the street and say ‘Are you coming back?’. I have nothing but respect for Simon and everyone on that show. They’re still my great friends.” David Hasselhoff has released his latest musical offering, which is his 17th studio album and is a mixture of classic ballads by American composer Frank Wildhorn.
It is Valentine’s Day today and everybody around the world will be snogging the face off of the one they love the most in the world and that includes Simon Cowell. Believe it or not, Simon Cowell has managed to find a way to actually snog himself, by kissing someone who was wearing a mask of his face.
An onlooker explained, “There were a few people wearing masks of the show judges and Ant and Dec but Simon singled out his own image for a smacker.” Meanwhile, his fellow judge on Britain’s Got Talent, Amanda Holden has revealed, via he official Twitter page, that she has been out on her first shopping trip with her new baby daughter Hollie.
She tweeted, “Off for a sneaky shopping trip with Holls before lex (daughter Lexi) gets back from school!” Simon Cowell has got a busy year ahead of him, as he judges on Britain’s Got Talent and he also needs to find new judges for both The X Factor USA, which he will be judging on, as well as the UK version of the show, before they both begin auditioning later this year.
Multi Millionaire music mogul Simon Cowell has spoken out about the exit of Cheryl Cole from the judging panel of The X Factor USA, claiming that it was just business and that Cheryl understands that. Simon also admitted that there was definitely a chance that Cheryl could return to The X Factor judging panel in the future if she really wanted to do it.
Cowell explained, “She is a grown-up and she understands that in this business when something happens it happens publicly. That wasn’t a great week for me. When I came back last year I was public enemy number one, and I wouldn’t want to go through that again. She could be a panellist again if she wanted to - 100%. I don’t know if she would. I think she probably misses me.”
It was reported earlier this month that Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole would be working on a new talent show project later in the year. However, it is difficult to see where Simon Cowell would get the time to do it, considering he has Britain’s Got Talent, as well as The X Factor USA, which both take up a considerable amount of time. The new season of Britain’s Got Talent launched last Friday.
It has been reported today that David Walliams could be facing a possible sacking from Britain’s Got Talent, as some of his comments are simply too rude to air to a family audience. It has also been suggested that David is upstaging Simon Cowell, which will also not go down too well with the creator of the show.
An insider added, “A lot of Walliams’s comments need editing out. It certainly can’t go on for the rest of filming. If we don’t get clean comments, that act won’t get a big showing. It’s a learning curve. He was very funny but we need him to be more family-friendly. But we’re still confident we made the right choice. Simon Cowell loves the banter and thinks the new panel has great chemistry.”
Meanwhile, another insider claims that David Walliams outshone Simon Cowell. They added, “Simon picked David because he likes his sense of humour and knew he’d be a success. But in doing so he may just have put himself in the shade - and that’s somewhere he doesn’t enjoy being.” Britain’s Got Talent is set to return for its sixth season in April.
