The Hunger Games breaks The Twilight Saga: Eclipse record

As many people have expected, ever since it was revealed that The Hunger Games was being adapted for the big screen, The Hunger Games is looking to be one of the biggest movies of the year. With the release of The Hunger Games still a month away, it has already sold out in a number of venues and set a new record on the way.

The Hunger Games has broken the record for first day sales on the advance ticketing website Fandango, breaking the record that was previously held by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse back in 2010. Considering The Hunger Games is not a sequel and is released in March, it is very impressive that it is already doing so well, as confirmed by Fandango executive vice president and general manager Rick Butler.
 
He explained, “The Hunger Games is off to a fantastic start. Yesterday we saw the biggest first day advance ticket sales in our company’s nearly 12-year history – which is especially impressive for a March release and a non-sequel.” The Hunger Games stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson and is set to be released on March 23.
